Forums - Sales - Why people say GeOW2 will be a system seller?

I think it depends on the hype.. I was never a fps cause those games just makes me feel like vomiting with the motion thing...

But I fell into the Halo 3 hype and actually quite enjoyed it playing campaign mode.. single player experience was .. meh though..

I expect there will be some crazy hype for Gears2 too and I know most of the online buddies will be getting this from day 1 so I guess I will. I guess when people see all the sales of this game they will probably want to follow.. just like any other big blockbuster

It means that if Playstation 3 fans argue, and assume that lesser-selling titles such as Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 can move consoles, then why not a game that is much better rated, and better selling? Gears 1 outsold Resistance and Killzone combined.

mrstickball - It seems like a defensive comment to a fair question.  The op is curious as to why people think the GeoW2 will push consoles.  It has nothing to do with Sony, Resistance 2, or Killzone 2.

I think Gears of War 2 will be a great game that will sell very well, but I don't see it moving a lot of hardware for reasons previously stated.  It is a sequel to a game already released on the 360 and Gears 1/Halo 3 have already brought in the FPS crowd.  That being said, I don't see KZ2 or Resistance 2 selling any hardware either.  But I expect both to be good games.

And he gave you a legitimate answer: the same guys who claim KZ2 and R2 to be systemsellers shout out loud that gears 2 won't move units using reasons in their arguments that could easily be applied to R2 at least.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Uh, I think you just contradicted yourself. You enjoyed it playing campaign mode, but single player experience was meh...did you mean campaign over Live?

There are no more systemsellers for 360

Correct. I was using something called "Logic". Many Sony fans assume that R2 and KZ2 will move consoles, so my argument was that if that argument holds true, then it should hold true for a bigger, more popular game.

dbot's second statement follows my logic: I wasn't trying to defend Gears. Merely employ logic that we all can follow. If you feel that Gears 2 won't move consoles, that's your opinion. But it's impossible not to find the paralell between R2/KZ2 arguments and Gears 2 arguments.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I see this game moving not only 360 hardware but also creating a spike in software sales for GeoW1. Microsoft just need to promote it heavily, and I expect they will.

I'll be getting mine on day 1.  Hopefully there will be another incentive like the exclusive background theme 'I played on emergence day' for the first GeoW

I didn't mean for my comment to sound defensive--but a lot of people DO tout Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 as system-sellers.  As the original Gears was much higher-rated and sold much better than the prequels to either of those games, if they have a chance to sell systems, then Gears 2 has a much higher one.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Exactly what I was trying to say.

Gears is a third person shooter and it will be a huge seller but not sure how many systems it will push.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game
