Forums - Website Topics - What was your First Post on VgChartz?

My first post was in a 10 most wanted games topic, the numbers were points so Starcraft II is on the top of the list not the bottom :

"Here's my list :

10. Starcraft II (PC - been waiting years for that one)
09. Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)
08. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
07. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
06. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
05. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
04. Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption (Wii)
03. Resident Evil 5 (PS3)
02. Resident Evil : Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
01. Guitar Hero III (Wii)"

Well it worked on me. Damn that subliminal guilt. I try to keep myself from joining too many forums. I had been away from console gaming for the past five or so years until I recently got a Wii, and my brother is heavy into his 360. I have been pretty hooked on MMORPGs so perhaps I can bring some unbiased views.

From ATTN: Site lurker reading this but doesn't post, yes you *points finger*

That is right ArtofAngels is totally responsible for me being here.

"The last game I heard of that was supposed to set new boundaries for animation, physics etc. was Half-Life 2, which proved to be possibly the greatest FPS ever made. People seem to forget the huge amount of problems the developers faced with the first Killzone, most notably switching from programming it to windows to a console. With the massive budget, and huge team of developers working steadily for 2 years, it would have to take some monumental degree of foolishness for this game to turn out bad. The Halo series are not great games by any sense of the word, it's just gonna take some slightly innovative and dedicated team to uproot Halo's currently distressing stranglehold on the console FPS market."

I was talking about Killzone 2 (which still hasn't launched...)

And yup, I really didn't like Halo.

I believe mine was a translation of a press release on a Microsoft event in Japan. Which I did for practice, as I didn't actually care about the article itself. Ah, memories...

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Basically I presented myself in the Spanish thread, in fact, all my first posts were in that thread

If you really must know what it said, it was:

"Halo 2 I think (my first and last time playing the game). The first one I had a bit of fun with was Mario Kart DS, but I didn't stick with that long either. I may or may not try SSBB online. Oddly, the idea of not having any statistics tracked increases its appeal to me."

The thread was about the first game you played online. Looking back I sort of miss the days when I could mock Pachter without having to go off-topic.

Starcraft 2 ID: Gnizmo 229

My first post was a doozy. I joined to discuss the Fall lineup of each console by genre and see what was preferred. It was surprisingly well received. Man I should really do this again for this year. I started with Racing, so that's the one I'll reprint here.

I'm basing my info on the IGN release dates as they stand from yesturday, 9/3. Things can change; I know. My differentiation between genres may not suit your style perfectly; so fine. I will not be including Playstation 2 because it's last gen, so too bad. Do the work yourself if it's that critical.

Now that all of that is out of the way, here's the point. It's hard to say which system is always the best, because sales do not necessarily entail quality, and gems can pop up on even the most awful of consoles. I'm gonna go genre by genre and show the fall lineup. You guys then discuss who rules in that area. If the release dates get updated by new games added or pushed into next fall, we can reconvene and decide again what that means for each console. I have taken a few liberties by not adding any games specifically for children, such as Spongebob and Ben 10, and will not include any games that have to do with hunting because I figure no one wants to argue over that anyways. If I'm offending any hunting game fans, too bad. Spend your money more wisely in the future. So without further ado...

In my opinion, Wii is in a league of it's own. You either want arcade style racing really bad or you don't. It has no competition. If you're a fan of more serious racing games however, it's kind of up in the air whether PS3 or 360 is right for you. I think 360 edges out because of PGR4, which has a good chance of being well received. If however you like Off-Road racing, PS3 has DiRT which was absent from the 360 lineup, so PS3 would be your obvious choice.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

No clue, since I was actually another account at the time, (Lemmiwinks), lost my password and the Lost your password link went to a dead page, so I spent two months emailing every mod on the board asking if I could get a replacement before just making a new account. :(

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

here's mine.  lol i was pretty pissed:

People keep comparing the PS3 to the likes of the Gamecube and the N-64 etc. and using this to argue that the "PS3 is gonna be ok." No. That's not a good arguement. Nintendo is a self sufficent company. Nintendo needs no one else. Having 3rd parties making great games on a Nintendo system is great, but Nintendo does not NEED them. They make many of their own games and that is enough to have a userbase. They sell their consoles for a profit from the get-go. Sony is a 3rd party dependent company. They throw away their consoles for a loss to get a large userbase. The 3rd parties follow the largest userbase. This is why Sony and 3rd parties have worked so well together in the past. The problem is that the PS3 will not have 3rd party support. Your arguement:"Well the N-64 and Gamecube didn't have a lot of market share, so if the PS3 has the same market share, they'll survive just like N64 and Gamecube did!" No. It doesn't work like that. Sony is already losing tons of money per PS3 they sell. (This brings another point. A PS3 price drop is FARRRRRR OFFFF. They are already losing an absurd amount of money per PS3. Anymore so and it would just be.... ridiculous?) Anyways, they are losing money from their hardware, and they are NOT getting the software to bring that money back. Nintendo had a bunch of their own great games, and when they sold, they made 100% of the profit. Marketshare is just something us fanboys squabble over on internet forums. I'm sure the bigwigs at Nintendo didn't mind that the Gamecube had like 15% of the marketshare that the PS2 did - the Gamecube was bringing in the profits. What's important to a business is PROFIT. Sony is losing the userbase, which in turn is losing the 3rd parties. They are only making a small percentage of income off of 3rd party games (compared to Nintendos 100% profit from first party games). Nintendo could survive without the 3rd parties. Sony cannot. Sony's business strategy DEPENDS on 3rd parties. Please don't compare the marketshare of the PS3 to the marketshare of the GC/N64. Marketshare is insignificant to profits.

I get way too lazy to type out stuff like that anymore.  And I've gotten way better at spacing out my posts.
