The best (my favorite game of the last generation) game was Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

The best new franchise was Halo. Halo single-handedly made the Xbox brand a success.

Best Game - Gran Turismo 3 or Grand Theft Auto Vice City

New IP - I'll probably go with the concensus and say either Halo or God of War. Theres also Guitar Hero which isn't my fav but a lot of people like. I'm pretty sure Ratchet and Clank was new also.
