Bad example there... a big American game on the X360's home turf, that's like comparing how soccer games sell between the two - it's cherry picked, because it plays on the strength of each console's regional dominance.

As for PS3 catching X360 in software, it'll definitely be hard to catch up, personally I don't think it will happen (assuming we mean total software LTD - winning weekly is definitely possible though).

Consider this: According to this website, the 360 has outsold the PS3 12.2mill to 5.6mill in Americas (roughly 2.2:1)

Why did madden on 360 only outsell 1.6:1 (waaay less than 2.2:1) in Americas?

I think a lot of 360's hardware sales are no longer valid because of owners giving up because of RROD problems or whatever.

Especially because 360 owners are supposed to be the "really hardcore game buyers who buy everything", exemplified by their "record attach rate".


Also, megaman shows attach ratios of 6.89 vs. 4.52. Does anyone else think that this is obvious because they've had an entire additional YEAR TO BUY MORE GAMES?  Wouldn't you have more games for a system if you owned it 50% longer?  3 years vs 2 years.

they will have to because when the ps3 is million and millions of consoles ahead of the 360, the software will have to be aswell unless ps3 owners stop buying games

I think PS3 might eventually do it, but it will take much time.

Next year PS3 will be running very close to 360 in software sales. Sony has a huge line-up of first party titles spanning the hole year. Each one of their first party titles next year should hit at least a million copies, and those are sales that 360 can only make up by MS getting out some exclusives of their own.

That is 14 titles, and we all know more will be shown and released before the year is over. That is basically a million seller every month for the whole year and they are all exclusive to PS3. That is going to be a lot of software for MS to make up, and if more people start buying multiplats for PS3 instead of 360 as I have started doing, it will only get harder for 360.

According to this article, the PS3 actually has the most software sales in Norway now, steadily increasing the lead. HW is on par with Wii and total lt hardware sales of Wii and PS3 are roughly 2.5 times bigger than 360 (factor in the difference in release dates and you'll see that some markets are truly good for the PS3).
After this December, the domestic situation will be settled for the long run here I think, and whichever console comes out on top this holiday season is going to take the win eventually.

 Look at those numbers again. Then look at the 360 total in america compared to the PS3 total.
