This will be McCain's peak, with the possibility of him getting Colorado as well. Soon, his bounce will begin to disappear and Obama will settle back into the lead.

I'm having a hard time calling this a "bounce" anymore. It's over a week later and McCain isn't going to lose all that ground back to Obama without hard work on Barack's part.

I think this is more of a trend than a bounce (though McCain is definitely riding a high right now that will surely peak at some point).

In any case, the next two months will be interesting.

You might be right....but we'll have to wait a bit for that to be true.

This is the "bounce" since results are still coming in from the convention/Palin.  By next week you won't be able to consider it a bounce.  If all polling firms polled the entire country state-by-state in the days after the convention/Palin announcement then you would be right.

the next couple of weeks will be very interesting. Reports are saying Obama is supposed to start being more aggressive in response to the McCain camp trying to steal the message of "change", Sarah Palin is finally actually leaving the protective custody of the McCain camp, and will start being more public after aggressive tutoring, the initial shock and awe or her announcement of VP will wear off, and the first debate is just around the corner. The race is in full swing now.

Maybe ... Obama has a problem at the moment which he has no control over.

If things continue going the way they're, and you start getting the extreme left make claims like "If John McCain wins, I'm going to have to move to another country" most voters are just going to start thinking "Now that is something I can vote for!"

I kid, but one of the biggest problems the Democrats have faced in the past couple of elections is that when they start losing a lot of well know people try to "Help" and only make things a lot worse. Now, when its (moronic) quotes from people like P-Diddy or Matt Damon most people will ignore them, but when you have political representatives from the Democrats who compare Obama to Jesus and Palin to Pontias Pilate it makes the Democrats look like a bunch of jackasses.

HappySqurriel...

That kind of action/reaction only really affects swing voters. Those numbers are already swinging towards the Red.

The real question is where that pendulum will stop.

Yeah, the Democratic party has a group of followers who seem hell-bent on destroying any progress made by the party. They think they're helping but in reality, they're only driving moderates away (much like the Religious Right has done to the GOP in the past).

Take Sarah Palin, for example. By trying to tear her down so viciously, they've actually built up more support around her before she even did one interview. In situations like that, you risk letting Sarah shoot herself in the foot. You don't turn her into a sympathetic figure for mothers, wives, and moderates around the country.

Morons.

Agreed.

Fanboys are fanboys....and they give everyone a bad rap.

You have to also remember that all the Hilary supports are still po'ed over Obama winning. From what I have seen from reports on the internet most are going to vote for McCain now. I think the Hilary supports are going to hurt the Obama campaign worse then the hell-bent democrats.

It will be interesting to see if some Hillary supporters basically throw out a protest vote in favor of McCain.

In any case, the far left is not helping Obama right now. Not one bit. The nasty attacks on Palin disgusted many people, me included. I know it's not Obama's fault but damn it, those fucking morons on the far left should know better than that. They're no better than the fear-mongering Republicans of past years. Actually, they're probably worse because they say all this shit from atop a podium of supposed intellectual superiority.

Careful, Rocket.

I'm far left...and many of the people that are making the accusation/attacks....are not.

It has nothing to do with the political spectrum, but rather the intellect and tact with which they expose their politics.
