Ya this doesn't say much about my favorite genre (RPG), since they are mostly small titles (outside of Final Fantasy), and I doubt sony will waste time on small titles. Well I have th 80gb BC model, so I guess I shouldn't even be here.

I am betting the Atlus, Nippon Ichi, Namco Bandai RPGs will all be done. Remember Japan is a huge territory. Sony Japan will be cracking on this. Sony Europe on Singstar.

That might be region based, I don't think they will bother with it here. Also neat little fact I learned over the weekend, american ps3's can't play japanese ps2 games. Good thing the store tested this right infront of me, I was about to buy a very expensive game.

It is very important to some users like me, because ps2 aren't really long lasting. My ps2 still works but I know it will kick the bucket soon.

I think it will work out for you.  Trust me.  If you can render in game assets, rendering text won't be hard.

Console Agnostic since 2001.

if emulators like pcx2 can run ps2 games on pc (not perfectly but the point is software emulation is possible), then surely ps3 can do BC without the emotion engine onboard through software emulation by fw updates, compatibility won't be as perfect but it would be good enough.

I can't believe Sony is doing this. This is a huge slap in the face to the haters.

Hmm so...PS3 with 80gb HD with BC $350 this winter? Lovely stuff.

Actually it might because of the haters. Remember sony did at one point shut down rumble, and everyone complained and bitched...it came back. Also this all depends on how sony goes about doing this. Best case possible: 100% BC, worse case possible: Only sony published games BC.

Meh, sounds like 360 BC. It's actually worse b/c the PS2 has so many more somewhat obscure titles that are very good, but probably didn't sell enough to justify BC for it.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

About time, but if they were working on it all along (like many assumed but none knew for certain) then why not announce it before everyone in the world had cursed them blue for not having BC? Just a thought, I think they're a little late on this and BC on a console should be default in any SKU.
