Forums - Gaming - PS3 Backward Compatibility Coming back via SOFTWARE!! HOLY CRAP CONFIRMED

Quote:
Man benötige kein PS3-Singstar. "Wir beobachten, bei welchen Titeln sich dies noch lohnen wird, und werden in Zukunft möglicherweise weitere PS2-Spiele auf der PS3 per Emulation zum Laufen bringen." Dies sei jedoch ein technisch sehr aufwendiger Prozess, weil die nötigen PS2-Chips den aktuellen PS3-Modellen fehlen.

PS2 SingStar games will run on PS3 without the need of a PS3 SingStar. Firmware update required.

They are looking at giving more titles and/or franchises the SingStar treatment.

cool

that would be so awsome. Since the begining of the console war the PS3 has always been the superior hardware with bluRay, Cell chips, sturdiness, etc but when they took out the BC I felt that they lost a very valuable asset in proving that their system was superior. I would not even reccomend the 40gig PS3 at my Gamestop store I work at becuz I felt that the other system sku was WAY better...If it is coming back trully then I can finally tell people they have nothing to worry about.

Greatness Awaits

PSN:Forevercloud (looking for Soul Sacrifice Partners!!!)

Sony may actually have the edge they needed in the future. If incorporated in a timely fashion (around the holidays) could do wonders for Sony. Nicely done.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

Well played Sony.

I had a feeling this was coming. Good for Sony, glad to hear they've been working on software BC.

They're monitoring and bringing some PS2 game BC via firmware...

Eh...it's better than nothing but why not bring full BC? It's not expensive at all.

Soriku it costs 35 dollars to put the emotion engine inside of a system.  Thats alot of money.  Yes to you it may not be expensive, but this is the right route.  The rumor is,  the goal is to have all the major hits, and major RPGs.  So that means Tales, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, GTA, Shadow :D.

Also now you can start hunting down that super cheap 40 gb PS3 that will be under 299 on the used market since the 80s deflate it.

Ya this doesn't say much about my favorite genre (RPG), since they are mostly small titles (outside of Final Fantasy), and I doubt sony will waste time on small titles. Well I have th 80gb BC model, so I guess I shouldn't even be here.

I am betting the Atlus, Nippon Ichi, Namco Bandai RPGs will all be done.  Remember Japan is a huge territory.  Sony Japan will be cracking on this.   Sony Europe on Singstar.

I wonder how good the BC will be... and how many games will be supported, or is just a case of a non-graphical-monster game...
