Forums - Sales - Wii can be the best seller not only in this gen but ever.

I was looking at the sales perfomance of this gen compared to the last one and notice this facts:

ps3 is something like 3 million units behind ps2 at the same amount of time since launch, so that´s not so far behind.

X360 is, instead, 2 million in front of xbox, but 3 million behind ps3, again notice, this is at the same time of sales(92 weeks) and taking the data from this site, so it can be wrong.

Wii is almost 13 million in front of ps2. Even if it slows down, can pass 120 million units, if it has the same selling legs as ps2.

So, unless something extraordinary happens, the wii is already the winner of this gen. You´ll say dehhh, but the dimension of the wii fenomenon is probably bigger than most think. The big figth, though, will be between x360 and ps3.

While ps3 is selling faster, the x360 user base is very important, because it can garanty bigger sales for the third parties, thus atracting some of the ps3 exclusives. In my opinion, it was a great move to launch the console first, and will give the edge in the next gen, to the company that manage to do the same.

Shocking.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Granted, it's such a big gap due to the PS2 having regional launches.  Once you compare region to region even though Wii still wins them all it isn't by that much.

However as a certain crazzy friend of ours has stated:

Console life = weeks from first LAUNCH at all, NOT in every region.

His logic, not mine.

So if you have the chance to get 1 of it which will you choose? Wii 360 PS3

Alright lets stop predicting, because if the wii just stops selling your whole theory is dead, and anything is possible.

I dk what yr sayin but Wii is probably, almost def., most likely going to be the best selling game system of all time.

If sth america, china and everywhere else kicks in to gear this gen. no doubt the system will have its own definition in the dictionary.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Bad argument.  Sure anything is possible but that means anything.  Just as easily as the Wii could stop selling so could the PS3.  All the talk about the PS3 being "future proof" is irrelevant when we factor in that "anything is possible".  Then your theories and predictions are useless also.  The whole point of predicting isn't to be 100% right.  Obviously we can't see the future.  It's to make (hopefully) informed guesses based on present data and past trends.  There's no need to think "oh well anything is possible"
