Forums - Sales - Nintendo and America:Is Nintendo Avaricious and Evil, or Just Plain Stupid?

This thread quoted Pachter excessively = Fail

The article recommended that because supply couldnt meet demand, Ninty should have raised the price of the Wii and only cut price when supply caught up to demand = No respect for customers

The article raised once again the "ninty are holding back console to increase demand" argument. (and I use argument i the loosest possible sense, I would describe it as a war crime against sound economic principles rather than an argument)

This article blames Nintendo for being unable to forsee the crash of the US market. Now that's a journalist that expects alot from Nintendo

coming up soon, Miyamoto's new game, Wiiconomics.

Anyway, supply will match demand in March 09 so stop whinging

Funny how in Australia the Wii is $400 and is still selling out and completly blowing away the competition.

In Australia EVERYTHING is more expensive. That's called purchasing power parity. The Wii is not more expensive compared to the other consoles in Australia than in America. And thats what is important.

Perhaps, but tangentially speaking, if Pachter is to believed, shouldn't Nintendo be flooding Australia with all the latest games and the highest number of consoles? I mean, on a per-dollar basis, they make more for everything they sell there than they sell in the U.S., so why would they not be sending more down under if their motivation is to maximize the exchange rate value? And yet Australia et. al. continue to be neglected.

Note that I don't intend to attack you or your views here; I'm simply trying to point out another way in which the article's claims and logic contradicts reality, and you were the most convenient way to do so.

the wii is still in short supply in UK, you still have huge posters in game whenevr they get new shipments

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

As I've stated before in a previous thread I made, Pachter and other analysts working for banks has a conflict of interest and should not be taken seriously.

it was several reasons. The two controllers, the game, and inflation. $200 isn't quite what it used to be.

I remember the old days, when $200 could get you a high quality hired sexual escort. These days, $200 doesn't even buy a crack addict. =D

@OP's article - This doesn't sound much like Patcher. I have a feeling the author of the article twisted some things around.
