Forums - Sales - Nintendo and America:Is Nintendo Avaricious and Evil, or Just Plain Stupid?

PC World HATES the Wii. This article should not come as a surprise.

If you don't believe me, read some of Matt Peckham's old Game On Blogs.

Basically, a lot of entities that believe in high-tech hate the less-than-cutting-edge Wii.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I was about to reply but this stole my words

So you were going to post something stupid but he got there first? Don't you just hate that.

(Personally I love the bit where he describes what is happening in the oil market. Ignorance at its finest.)

As for the topic, the Wii was priced too low. It's an undeniable fact and I know this because we've been reporting shortages since it was launched.

Debating with fanboys, its not
all that dissimilar to banging ones

The Wii is selling faster than any console... ever. They (Nintendo) are pumping out Wiis, DSs, Wii Fits, and controllers, peripherals, and games at a rate NEVER SEEN BEFORE to try to satisfy a demand that is UNHEARD OF. It is only natural that they should have shortages and the fact that those shortages are still around only proves my point further (i.e. its even more astoundingly popular than your even realizing).

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Hm, so basically if Pachter wishes it hard enough it must be true? Every time that man is cited in an article, the article seems to be based more off of wild speculation and misinterpretation of imperfect data, and less off of actual fact, reason, logic, or journalistic integrity. I'm sure he has the best of intentions, but he really needs to get out of the reactionist journalism business. His reputation with sources that count is going to only get worse if he keeps hobnobbing with people who write stuff like this...

Sorry, what I meant was 1 wiimote and 1 nunchuck. 2 controller pieces that = one $60 investment (twice as much as previous controller pack-ins).

The two do not come in one pack?

I do wonder why everyone forgets the PS2 was in shortage for almost it's first full year in each region, as well as the fact that PS2 production was half of what the Wii has been, and then add in he fact that no one predicted the Wii would explode out of the gates, wheras PS2 was assumed to be the fastest selling home console ever from the start.

The success of the Wii is simply unheard of. It's easy to point out this kind of stuff, what Pachter says and whatnot. I mean, we can all see that the demand isn't being met, but it's only one comapny doing it all. One tiny company (if compared to MS or Sony for that matter) that has to manufacture 2 of the best selling videogame systems to date, the DS and Wii.

It was just plain impossible to actually foresee this.

Huh. Who would've thought that beggining anew in my real life would coincide with starting anew on vgchartz?

Any day now, the dollar will be worth less than 2 zloty......any day now.....and my life savings will be in total jepordy ;(.

They do, I meant that previous nintendo consoles (n64, gamecube, etc) only came with one $30 controller instead of 2 pieces that equal $60.

Just listing some reasons why the wii was $250 and not $200.

If Nintendo is a failure, I sure as hell want to fail some.

Me too.............I'd be pretty happy failing...........all the way to the bank!

If the profit loss/numbers are accurate, that's insane for Nintendo........close too $100 in profit.............does the PS2 even profit that much now?
