Forums - Nintendo - IMO, Twilight Princess is an utter failure and a complete disappointment

bezerker - check out Zelda 2 on the NES, it was a side-scrolling RPG, very interesting departure for the series but apparently it wasn't as popular since they went back to the original format on the SNES.

Twilight Princess has several flaws. The dungeons are great but most of the stuff in between the dungeons is straightforward, dull, and bland. There was very little story or character interaction outside of some dialogue with Midna, and the beginning of the game was really long and tedious to actually get into. The side quests were also fairly boring and didn't offer much in the way of a reward, the heart pieces were easy to stumble across for the most part, and complicating both of those factors the game was easy enough that I never felt any incentive to go explore and find additional items. The dungeon items were generally used only in the dungeon you get it in and then either never again or in some obvious door-opening manner. Of course the worst part is that every treasure chest had nothing but boatloads of rupees and they were friggin everywhere and there was absolutely nothing worthwhile to spend them on short of the Magic Armor which I never bothered to even find. It totally sucked the fun out of exploring the dungeons and finding every last treasure chest when I was maxed out on Rupees after the first couple dungeons and every single chest tried to shove another 50 at me only to tell me I couldn't take it so the chest was going to stay closed and on my map annoying me.

It was still a good game - the controls were tight, the dungeons were great, graphics/animations and stuff were solid, the new items were interesting and cool. I didn't even care about the lack of voice acting since I hate sitting through people talking when I can read the text much faster. But after one play through I have no desire to go play it again or even go back and find all the heart pieces and bugs and everything else.

rofl, haha you're an utter failure and a complete disappointment yourself :D
Of course, if you don't like a Zelda game then you are stupid...

I think Neos, whether he was correct or not, was not talking about bezerker being stupid for disliking the game, but disliking it because he deleted his own file (again, whether it was correct or not, that is how Neos interpretted it)

And bezerker, i have accidently pressed buttons that caused windows to do something unexpected and magical, but even you can admit (even if it was true, which is possible) that the series of events that would have to take place to delete a file by sitting on the controller is hard to believe :P (read my last post if you need clarification of those events again :P)

shakes head at tabsina....i can't be any more honest...i sat on my controller and it must have clicked on my file. ONce it does that you can either Copy, Start or Erase and it must have hit erase. Then after that, my controller wasn't done with crazy button mashing and it clicked YES.

is it stupid....YES....but it doesn't negate the fact that it happened that way.

if you want to waste time speculating over that theory, then fine. but i'm here to tell you that's what happened.

(and thanks for having my back against Neos)...

I not gonna lie but i think you have problems bezerker......... go wine some where else....

i'm definitely not a people person...that's for sure. can't someone get annoyed at a game w/o having people distort the truth?

it's all good, i'm heading to the beach soon....just 5 more hours here at work.

its just that OoT was realy good and the first real 3d zelda game so that makes it special. aswell it was released when most of u were around the 12-15 year of age (think so) so then games have other impacts.

i played mario 1 on the old gameboy. i loved it so i was saving all my money i get weekly based after alot of years ive bought it. man man man what a buttgame.

the same with golden eye, in that time it was a real good shooter good graphics good stoyline everything. play it now again and it wont get the impact it had before.

I admit TP starts slowely and those weird black creatures arent realy a zelda feeling. but overall I think its a real cool game.

life isn't complicated, just face it simple.

Cause I said that somewhere right?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Twilight Princess is a very flawed game, to be sure. I think most of the complaints can be summed up with one word: linear.

It was sort of like everything was just laid out for you in order to go complete. And because 3D Zelda games have become so familiar, I think it played even more linear than it was. Instead of seeing unreachable areas and trying to figure out how to get there, you just say "I'll come back when I get the hookshot." It doesn't feel like exploring, it feels like warping to places and picking stuff up.

I still had a lot of fun with it the first time through, and unlike some others of you, I'm sure I'll complete it again in the future. I really loved the dungeons--thought they were great conceptually (though again, too linear), and the sword combat was awesome with all the special moves. The boss enemies, like the dungeons, were awesome conceptually, but they were too easy to beat.

But even if it was just a big 40 hour long interactive movie, it was still a pretty good movie, I think.

Hopefully the next Wii Zelda uses different controls somehow. Exploring Hyrule in a different way might make the game feel fresh again, and make the puzzles feel less obvious.
