Easily the weakest version released due to technicals like frame rates, load times and connectivity issues with TF2. The only reason why it's still rated so high is because it's still Orange Box. And if a player has no other option but to play it on the PS3, it is still far better than skipping it entirely.
Point being, there was no excuse for the PS3 version to perform any worse. Especially when the hardware is capable of doing much better with the right development team.
In the future, it seems more likely than not that if Valve wants a PS3 version done to their standards, they'll have to do it themselves. |
1) The port was the worst but in no way damaging in reputation... as it's still one of the very best games in the PS3's library and the PS3 is damn lucky to have that bad port.
2) Sure there was. It takes PC developers twice as much time and effort to work on PS3 develoment then 360. That's a lof ot extra development money. That and reason 3.
3) As Gabe said himself recently. There is a lot of stuff they want to do. However they don't do most of it as they have only 150 employees. Every bit of time they spend on a port or some other idea, the less time is spent on their known ideas. The longer it is for HL E3 to come out and other bigger more money making games people are looking for on PC.
There is more money in HL E3 for PC or other PC projects then there is LFD PS3. Don't be surprised if he was talking about someone else being a port.
He was asked two questions.
Did you rethink your position on the PS3. (That they should stop makign it!)
and
Is there a chance LFD will come out on PS3. (Not if they would make it.)
I mean they've also said they want to make Wii games. My money is on them doing neither.
