Forums - Nintendo - Oh the Nintendo/Sega Irony

I always liked Sega Games, some of them are no longer great but i'm very happy that they are supporting the wii, they are doing that from business reasons, to make money like any other company in the world. Even with all that hatred i think today former Sega fans are usually Wii owners, and Sega understands that as well. Plus it was PS2 that completely killed DC.

Shenmue Wii would be sick.

Well, it wasn't so much the home consoles that got Nintendo through those 10 years, it was the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance plus Pokemon that were bringing in the vast bulk of the profits. That's one of the reasons Sony entered the handheld market. They realized they couldn't kill Nintendo by just winning on the home console front.

Belike (although I think you're overestimating Sony's hatred of Nintendo if you think the PSP exists just to wipe Nintendo out). But even if Nintendo didn't have the Gameboy, I'm pretty confident they would've been able to pull a profit from their consoles or, at the very most, a small loss. Remember, this is a company that's always sold it's hardware for a profit, and which has always made a ton of money off its software. I stand by my statement: if Sega was better managed, it would not have been forced out of the console business.

I agree, it was sega that killed itself, all those add-ons destroyed their reputation and they lost millions of dollars. They wanted to be market leader so they didn't focus on making a solid profit.

Don't think its ironic but simply funny. I don't know. But Sega and Nintendo have a good relationship now. I think they should partner up personally.

But why is there a PS2 in the first place?

Pixel Art can be fun.

If I were Nintendo, I'd make Sonic blow Mario as payback for the disrespect Sega showed in the 90's. Damn hedgehog.

You probably could find that on Rule34.

@Rol: Maybe that was just the thing that the Sega reps were meaning...

@markers: I just noticed, that it's not just your topics that make me feel like your avatar. But anyway, Segas Realitycast was what happened after Dreamcast.

Yeah it is.. I've seen those SEGA commercials on youtube of them making fun of Nintendo.. must have been bloody times back then...

It was pretty cutthroat between them back then. I don't think there's ever been anything similiar.

Last time i was talking about just your topics. I do read them, they're usually not dumb at all, you just don't know how to write posts in a fashion that makes people interested in them, unlike me and D21Lewis.

Yes, the fur is nice and warm during the winter. By the way, i shaved my genitals if you want to know.

You could add a few steps and some off shoots to this story

Sony and Nintendo's first partnership came well before the SNES CD issue by way of Sony providing the sound chip for the SNES.

As an aside, we're all familiar with the 3D0 console. That was basically Panasonic and EA. Now EA seems to give a lot of love to Nintendo. Further more, in the mid 90's Panasonic began work on a successor console targeted to crush the N64 graphically which they called the M2. Soon after they sold the technology to parent company Matsushita though they never used the technology outside of interactive kiosks. Only a year later Matsushita provided the proprietary mini-DVD for the GameCube while Panasonic released the DVD enabled GameCube known as Q.
