Forums - Nintendo - The origins of Star Fox

Awesome vid! Thanks!

And if you guys are looking for that amazing background music, look no further:

That song is "Go, Mario, Go!" and based on samples from Super Mario Land. It is from Super Mario Compact Disco, by MC Mario and the Ambassadors of Funk, released in Japan and Europe in 1993.

Here is the Wikipedia article.

Here are all the lyrics to the incredible raps.

I highly recommend finding this whole album.

Here is a fanmade video to smash hit single "Go, Mario Go!" so you can hear the music and lyrics without the interview over it:

He's such a genius.

It's amazing how he can make something so normal and acceptable at the same time puts them together in a way that no one would ever think... but for some reason it all makes sense, even without the explanation.

A plumber, turtle shells, mushrooms.
Fox, spaceships, arches and rings, a toad.
An elf, a octopus shooting rocks, temples, music.
Melting clocks, greco-roman statues, Jesus, the circus.

Once you see it you think: "It's so obvious, how come it's never been done or thought of before."

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Interesting find.

Star Fox began like a demo developed by Argonaut to showcase the new SuperFX chip.
Miyamoto like the demo and want to expand. Basically his contribution to Star Fox is the setting and characters.

BTW try search for X, it is the first title ( largely unknown ) made by Argonaut for Nintendo. It is a shooter that use a 3D wireframe engine .... on original GameBoy.

@TheKitchenSink: Actually Starfox was changed to Starwing in Europe. Of course for the same reason Starfox 64 was changed to Lylat Wars. But, Starfox Adventures had the name "Starfox" in it.

Yeah Star Fox 64 is basically a super amazing enhanced remake of Star Fox. Not a sequel at all.

Starfox is overrated, I can beat the 64 version in about an hour, pretty much regardless of the route.

Thats the fun of Starfox 64. You can play it all in a few minutes but its still fun. In my Top 5 favourite games ever.
