It will show up in Nintendo's shipment report for the quarter ending June 2009 at the latest.

I don't think the end of 2008 is out of the question though for shipments...but its fairly unlikely

DS is gonna be at ~83-86m shipped through September 2008. Probably 93m to 98m through December 2008 by extension.

I'm expecting holiday sales to be down this year in the USA & Japan though...and 84m shipped through Sept 08'. DS shipments were 11.15m in Oct-Dec 07'. Odds are it will do ~10m in Oct-Dec 08.' Peak holiday in Europe (third full year is always the peak it seems, DS launched in Mar 05' in Europe) and sales will be well down in Japan vs. 07' and probably flat to down slightly in the Americas...
