Forums - PC - Pc Doesn't Recognize Removable Disks

@sc: Do you need the reader to anything else but transfer photos? I mean Canon has pretty good software to transfer photos on and off the camera (not sure can you transfer other data too with the camera software, never tried).

Well I use the SD cards for my Wii.

Another thing I noticed that is weird. In my computer it lists a floppy drive as removable storage, but I don't have a floppy drive.

@sc: Is the floppy drive found 3hen you look at the properties?

So you transfer only photos? From Wii to SD all content should have DRM and shouldn't be able to be moved to PC (i know, no need to point anything out people).

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Try uninstalling that floppy drive from Device Manager and see if your USB storage works.

If that fails, you could try this:
Make sure Device Manager is closed.
Open the properties of My Computer, click on the Advanced tab, click on the Environment Variables button, then click on the New button under System variables.
In the variable name textbox, type:
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
In the variable value textbox, type:
1
Click OK, OK and then OK. Open Device Manager. Go to View->Show Hidden Devices. Go to View->Devices by connection. Scroll to the bottom and uninstall anything called "USB 2.0 Flash Disk USB Device" or "USB Mass Storage Device". Remove the environment variable (if you want), then try plugging your USB storage devices in again.

The properties of the Floppy Drive? Nothing shows up. I don't have a floppy drive though.

There isn't a Usb Flash Disk Usb Device listed. Though I do see my camera listed.

Is it 50% transparent like a hidden file would be? Provided you have the driver disc, you could try uninstalling that and see if it makes a difference.

Edit: You're talking about a situation where you don't have the camera connected, right?

No Its connected, but when I disconnect it, it goes away. So it should work but everytime I connect it it tries to install drivers, but the drivers don't install correctly it says.

It sounds like the devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices variable setting isn't effective. Try this:

Close Device Manager and disconnect your camera.

Go to your start menu, find Command Prompt, right click on it and Run as Administrator.

Type the following:

SET devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

Open Device Manager again, and go to View->Show hidden devices, then View->Devices by connection. Scroll to the bottom. Do you see a few devices listed there that are 50% transparent, like a hidden file would be?

No, but when I do that there are more files that have a gear looking icon by them.
