Try uninstalling that floppy drive from Device Manager and see if your USB storage works.
If that fails, you could try this:
Make sure Device Manager is closed.
Open the properties of My Computer, click on the Advanced tab, click on the Environment Variables button, then click on the New button under System variables.
In the variable name textbox, type:
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
In the variable value textbox, type:
1
Click OK, OK and then OK. Open Device Manager. Go to View->Show Hidden Devices. Go to View->Devices by connection. Scroll to the bottom and uninstall anything called "USB 2.0 Flash Disk USB Device" or "USB Mass Storage Device". Remove the environment variable (if you want), then try plugging your USB storage devices in again.
