Forums - Microsoft - Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Demo, my opinion

well i think everyone with at least a little interest or more should try this demo out. I downloaded it and played it....was fun with all the powers you have, and the effects, such as glass breaking looked great...
wouldn't mind playing the full game, I give the demo an 8.5/10...

Hitting buttons or waving a Wii Remote like a lightsaber? Which do you guys think sounds more fun?

hmm, tapping buttons or doing motions. hmm I could waggle links sword, but I always tended to swing when I reached the end of the combo. yeah it didn't do any extra damage, but it was more psychology satisfying. Same with NMH, press button to attack, but swing to finish. Does a sword game need 1:1, no. It just needs to be coded well. I could go onto write a huge posting about Wiimote Melee, but no. Maybe I will writer a GlovePie script soon.

Wii for me.

I am jelous of Euphoria and DMM, what I would like to know is how much does this visual representation add to game play. While the Wii version won't have DMM the company has implemented a make shift older style terrain destruction. So how much does it add?

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

It was pretty fun, although using the force to throw objects or enemies often messed up the camera. Or I'd try to throw the enemy and the camera wouldn't move. It got annoying very quickly. Still only a minor problem.

But the rest of the demo was pretty fun. I especially liked throwing a Storm Trooper into a pile of his friends. And the boss, while minor and easy, was fun to take down. I only wish you were able to face the Jedi you were promised in the opening scene. It also took a while to get used to the controls but they offered a lot of variety once mastered. And the special moves that required quick button presses were difficult, but jaw dropping once accomplished.

One of the better demos I've played and it definitely makes it a far more difficult decision on which platform to buy it for.

PS3 and 360 aren't just "pretty" they're more realistic.

The Euphoria engine is awesome. Grabbing a trooper, and them grabbing another and force throwing them both is cool, or the trooper grabbing a crate or a box so you can't lift him is much more realistic, IMO, than motion controls.

The Digital Molecular Matter engine is pretty freaking awesome too. When force pushing a steel door, instead of it breaking or anything like that, it bends, as steel would under great pressure, and again, much more immersive and realistic, IMO than motion controls. Especially not 1:1, as it's basically a "waggle-fest".

Waggle fest = wrong. I've played enough of Zelda to know that I don't like it.

Thanks for the heads up.

Tease.

My Demo review=AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!! I like throwing enemies off a cliff--Long Way down bonus. + the clips at the end of the demo. Alternate timeline w/ Emperor Vader? Idk.

Do you have to complete it on the harder difficulty?

Just a tip for the boss, it IS possible to knock the boss off the cliff. Where the powerup is, there is no railing. So dodge his attacks, use force push, dodge again. And keep pushing him towards the edge, he'll fall eventually if ya keep force pushing him.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

I played it twice as well. The first time I was on the 2nd highest diff. the second time I was on the highest. The first time it took 15 min. The second time It took me 25 - 30 because I couldn't keep the damn camera where I wanted it. (RB is your friend). Before you get to the boss is where I kept dying. I eventually learned that you could just shock the storm troopers to death, and it made the game easier and more enjoyable.

Here are my complaints:

The opening cutscene had a Giant Hang and it made the voice syncing off by about a second.

I hate the targeting system. It never lets me pick up what I want.

Camera turnaround using the second analouge stick is too slow.

The AI is completely retarted. They will continually stand there and shoot at you while you are blocking and either kill themselves or all of their teammates.

The limitation to only pick up 1 item at a time (can be upgraded maybe?)

The inability to walk while holding things (can be upgraded maybe?)

Force length is somewhat limited (can be upgraded maybe?)

Blasting-open doors SUCKS.

The cinematic character model for Vader's apprentice looks strange around the eyes.

But:

It was still pretty fun despite my frustrations. Hopefully you will be able to upgrade the things I didn't like.

I did like the combo system to an extent. X-X-Y is awesome for taking out enemies.

Graphics are nice, and visual effects are top notch.

Story seems somewhat promising.

Might have to try that!

Another way i faced the boss, on hard was to throw objects at him from a distance, then when you get in close shock him, then it goes directly to the quick time event.
