Forums - Microsoft - Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Demo, my opinion

Well, I recently just completed 2 playthoughs of the demo, so I'll like to share with you my experiences. This is not a "review" just my opinion and experience on the game, that I'll be sharing with you. Reviews are too professional, I like to keep things casual. With that outta the way, let us begin.

Gameplay - The gameplay is your standard hack and slash, with added benefits of force abilities. These range from your standard Force Push, Force Lightning, and Force Grab. Using these three abilities in conjuction, you can perform deadly and very spectacular abilities. My personal favorite is the force slam ability (X, X, Y, B). I was quite amazed at the level of AI the game has. For example, stormtroopers WILL avoid your attacks and WILL scatter if you get close. Thus removing alot of area-effect capabilities you have and forcing you in a very deadly game of cat and mouse. Using your surrounding items seems to be the key in higher difficulties. Another note I have to make about the AI is its uncanny ability to detect what kind of situation it is, try dangling a rebel trooper off a high ledge. He will infact beg for mercy. Of course you don't plan to give him any. Do you?

Unleashing the Force - The control scheme for the xbox 360 version is quite simple. 3 buttons are accolated to your attacks, X being sabre, Y being Force Lightning, and B being force push. I have however found it awkard to use force Grab. In order to force grab, you have to target them using RB, then use RT to grab them. The awkardness of it all comes from the targetting system, which seems to be very limited in range, and random at the best of times. The last thing is actually manuvering the object in mid-air is difficult sometimes. Your left-analog stick is used for forward-backwards movement, your right analog stick is used for side-to-side movement. Good luck!

Graphics - The graphics on my TV is quite good.. The force lightning effects is just as you would have imagined it in the movies, the backgrounds, textures, everything is up to par. I have no complaints.

Duration - I found the demo to be sorta short, but doesn't fail when it comes to enjoyability.

Anyway, have fun!

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

That sounds pretty cool, but im interested in how the Wii version compares because if possible, easy controls are what I would prefer overall more than prettyness.

Tease.

Hitting buttons or waving a Wii Remote like a lightsaber? Which do you guys think sounds more fun?

I like to think of it as button typing.

From the video I've seen, I think I still prefer the buttons.

What I saw is that you wave your wiimote and nunchuck for sure, but not at all like a lightsaber.

Anyway, the wiimote without without the Wii Motion Plus can't act as a light saber. Don't dream too much or you'll be disapointed. It might be fun, sure, but not the way you think it will.

I'll wait for a sequel using motion plus and a shoulder view to get excited.

They will know Helgan belongs to Helghasts

from the previews i've read the Light saber does not mirror the wii remote but more a specific type of "wiggle" on the remote will trigger a specific light sabre move / attack?

Will wait for reviews but i'll probably get it on the 360.

Camera makes my head hurt. People can complain all they want about Ninja Gaiden 2 camera, but I found able to adjust camera on the fly and reposition it when and where you want it beat the camera system in the game like SW:FU and Too Human.

That was one of the things mentioned in the Wii version, so the camera is a standard issue in all versions I assume? Doesn't seem like a HUGE issues, but I can see the minus in it...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

In Psi-Ops, you could levitate stuff AND walk. I wish The Force Unleashed let us do the same. Still, the demo blew me away. It's a must buy, for me.
