Hillcrest seeks ban on wii import claim patent infringment. seeing as how none of the past infringement cases ever lead to stuff actually being banned, i doubt this will happen either. the worst thing i have seen come out of these is sonys decision not to use rumble in its launch controller. though if something does come out of it, at worst i see it as a settlement for nintendo i doubt they would want to stop the wii flow

Those you can't innovate, litigate.

Nintendo is protected by multiple patents under 1987-88 patents for motion in the Power Glover, 1992,93,95,97 patents for other motion inputs, 93, 97,01,05 for pointing devices. The internal tech Nintendo is using are all third party and I'm sure those companies have patents too.

Hillcrest's patents were filed in 2005.

There is also the issue that Nintendo is using the device for gaming, their patents are for multimedia and business related PC devices... there are about 200 other companies working on this tech including suppliers of Wii parts.
