Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 multiplayer interview...

That's a pretty good interview and answers some good questions i had about the online aspect of the game. And all you guys should check out the video link Makingmusic posted, it adds a lot more tension to the singleplayer then what he have seen so far.

Killzone 2 is gonna suck from the perspective of tv executives who are seeing their audience numbers slip away. So for gamers its gonna rock! xD

Another way to put it is that its gonna suck up so much money and time, its gonna be great for the industry

I always love unravelling what people put under those black bars.

It gives me kind of a "kinder suprise" feel when you don't know what you're going to get.

OT; Yea, this game sounds good to me.

It's a pretty small bummer that they don't have any online vehicles at launch.

I promised makingmusic476 I would attract his ban hammer before the end of the month! Can't disapoint...

I'm confused.. I watched the video.. But is that an online coop? or a multiplayer match. I'm so damn confused. The interview says there's no vehicles.

@makingmusic476
Holy particle effects, Batman!

Looks awesome. hope most of those are ingame?

It seems there are no vehicles the player can directly control. That airbourne vehicle seems to be an attack ship a player can call in by planting a smoke grenade (similiar to a helicopter in COD4) to attack the opposing team.

"The only thing better than killing Helghast aliens, is killing them with your friends online."

That is not true. Killing aliens in Halo, Locust in GoW and terrorists in CoD4 was better than killing Helghast aliens...

How do you know its not true....you got an advanced copy of the final version of KZ2 for your xbox?? If so, please share details of the game play.

PSN: TheGodofWine (Warhawk / R2 / MotorStorm PR)

AND

PSN: Skigazzi (for KZ2 and future games)

I played the first Killzone game, and killing Helghast aliens is not all it is cracked up to be.

I see.. That's the most logical thing way to put it.

i just cant wait to try it

I read an excellent article on gamespy that details the multiplayer.  It sounds like they are putting a lot of effort into the online side of the game.

http://ps3.gamespy.com/playstation-3/killzone-next-gen/902331p1.html

  • The progression system includes 12 ranks with 46 ribbons/medals to earn.  Player abilities progress with rank.
  • Badge/Role system includes a major and minor role that you can mix.  Each badge/role includes a major and minor ability.  Each player selects one major and one minor ability per play.  (It has been mentioned in other articles that you can change badges during respawns.  You don't need to wait until the end of the game to change your class.
  • The Tactician's primary role is the creation of new spawn points on the map.
  • Ships with 8 maps w/ up to 32 players per map.
  • Multiple missions can be setup per game that allows the games to progress without an intermission.
  • While respawn you can view spawn points via a security style camera.
  • Each game can include up to 8 4 person squads.  Each squad includes a squad leader.  You can respawn on the squad leader.  Each squad is given its own voice communication channel.
  • Extensive clan support, killzone.com website integration, stat tracking, and leaderboards.
  • The author was impressed by the graphics, but did note frame issues during larger battles.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
