Forums - Gaming - Holy Shit imagine this in future games!

I don't think I can bring myself to play games that are realistic to that level, I don't think I could - when we get there I guess I'll find out... but even today I have issues playing horror and gore games.

Shooting someone in the face in CoD7 and being able to distinguish that person as my friend and watching the bullet sizzle in his face, I don't think I could do that.

Are you kidding? that is AWESOME. It would be even better if you could get your actual face put on a model to that level of realism, i would have some fun blowing the heads off my friends haha.

The eyes are usually not the worst thing...it's typically the mouth animation that looks the worst, at least from that distance. Like the first video for Heavy Rain...that mouth was terrible, worse than games that came out before the video...I'm sure it'll improve though.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

It does get tiresome when game characters look like they have Cerabral Palsy and Downs Syndrome all at once, so this is welcome news indeed!

I surely hope not! seriously, enough already.. all this graphics focus will kill the industry (sky high production costs), not to mention that no one wants to play something that does not differ from what you see outside your window! Seriously, if this is the future, I'll probably quit when the next generations employ it.

This is bullshit - and will turn me away from gaming altogether. If that will be the next generation MS and Sony - I'll move to Nintendo completely...
Not being able to distinguish reality fom a game - horrible... this will be the death of gaming.

looks pretty good, very good, not perfect but very good.

Nice.

Would be easier to judge if it were better than 320x240 res though... I'm not so sure this would hold up to close scrutiny in full HD on a good screen tbh!

wait wa?! ur telling me that SHE was FAKE (well, "graphics")? I thought she was talking/introducing it and they would show it later on....WOW...Uncanney Valley anyone?

Edit: I just watched it again, I'm guessing it's only her face, because her hands were real....were they?

She is so ugly!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

As far as I can tell, this technology doesn't actually create photorealistic actors, its just for animations. It's basically just a more expensive version of motion capture. And in the same way that motion capture doesn't mean great looking graphics, neither will Image Metrics.

The polygon count, textures, lighting, etc. etc., won't be affected in anyway by Image Metrics.

Bascially, if Image Metrics got implemented into any game, it would have zero impact on the actual graphics. It just allows for some really accurate facial animations.

The photorealistic graphics in the above video is just the same old CGI (albeit well done) we've always seen.
