As much as I like Little Big Planet, it looks like it hasn't been off to a good start on pre-orders. Usually when an anticipated game gets put up for pre-order they get a big boost up front then die down and increase again before the game hits.

Little Big Planet comes out the same week as Fable 2. Little Big Planet's pre-orders already dropped off, but Fable 2 is still hanging around up top. Fable 2 has also been on pre-order longer.

Maybe people are just waiting to see what kind of pre-order bonuses their are before deciding where to order from. Hopefully that is the case.

I've asked all my friends who have PS3s if they are buying Little Big Planet, most of them don't know what it is. Then I tell them what it's about and I get no reaction.

I would have thought Little Big Planet would be beasting Too Human sales. Too Human has so much bad rep revolving around it and it's selling more? I know Too Human comes out tomorrow, but DAMN, even Fable 2 is outselling Too Human at this point.

id say its a little unfair to compare fable 2, a huge game with a track record selling to a userbase thats roughly twice as large and gobbles up games like a hungry hungry hippo, to a new IP from Sony that hasnt even bagan its marketing push a bit unfair.

That said, also saying too human being ahead of LBP (assuming your using amazon) as indication too human will sell more when LBP doesnt even come out for 2 months....just wow. Youre logic astounds me. LBP will sell 3x Too Human. mark my words.

The next flop is going to be left for dead, imo. I think there are far to many great complex, story driven shooters with far more substance coming out for. including resistance, gears 2.....i think it will get lost in the shuffle and have mediocre sales.....speaking strictly from a console analysis.

PS. Most of your friends dont know what LBP yet and neither does the majority of gamers out there...since there havent been any commercials or any marketing....but when i showed the video to my girlfriend with Battles playing in the background she was very interested....she hates games. I love games and am very interested......that right there is why LBP will be huge. Its as close to hitting all markets as possible form Sony. No way this game flops.

also the bolded areas contradict one another....if its so anticipated why do your friends not know about it?

Anticipated among forum geeks I suppose, I guess thats where all the hype has been. I thought my friends would have known about, but I guess I was wrong.

I do know that Amazon isn't a good way to track sales. Soul Calibur sold more on PS3 but sold less in the real world. I also referenced Gamestop. >_<

I'm not the only one saying LBP might FAIL BTW.  ^_^ I just told you why it looks like it's failing. I did my part to make it not FAIL, my pre-order is with Gamestop (I don't hate the game)

Ohhh, that is a really good reason why it won't fail, just because you like it. Just because of that, the whole world will too. haha come on dude, my reason was better. Yes, your logic astounds me too.

Maybe Fallout 3 I'm not taking bets but it's one of those games everyone is hyping and I only feel a meh for it kinda like I felt about Too Human and it seems I was right about that.

I'm thinking it could be Spore. The game has been hyped so long and the concept is hard to grasp. I'm not even sure what audience it's supposed to appeal to.

I dunno. The numbers the creature creator reportitly did are pretty big for a demo.

Though i am biased. I'll probably end up paying for a 3-D printout of my favorite creation.

I'm kinda disapointed the creators aren't as indepth and complex as i'd hoped... but it still seems cool to me.

Now to answer a question... for the game to flop... I think it has to be given HUGE press.

With so many big press games being sequels it's going to be hard to point out a flop since sequels will sell good or not.

I'll go with either Little Big Planet due to who knows people beng stupid or Fallout 3 (A sequel, but a sequel to an RPG series that happened along time ago... in a format which pisses off most fans of the series).

There aren't that many hugely hyped games out there right now.

I think The Blob and Deadly Creatures will flop. The Blob is a gaming about rolling a ball full of paint around a black and white world, I don't see how they can market that to the masses. And Deadly Creatures you run around as either a tarantula or a scorpion, that will definitely turn people off of the game. A strong candidate would also have to be Fable 2, if the first one disappointed as much as people on these forums say, that will leave a bad impression in peoples memories and since the story doesn't really connect they are going to have to fight an up hill battle with sales.

I don't believe anyone is expecting much out of Blob or DC - neither is being pushed as hard as Haze, Lair and Too Human. If they get decent reviews they'll sell, but probably not over 1m copies.

Fable was a solid game and most gamers will fess up to that. The problem was that many people expected even more from it, thanks to PM shooting off his mouth early on about ideas that they tried to put into the game, but ended up never making the cut. PM been a little more coy about F2, which means expectations and results should line up a little better. However while Fable 2 will sell well, it won't be a console seller, and probably will never be as big as Halo or Final Fantasy.

My money is on WiiMusic. As a title that basically has you pretending to make music  by waving about your arms, its hard to see where the game is. Say what you will, but WiiSports and WiiFit had goals. WiiFit seems more like and idle time waster, and may be Nintendo's first misstep on this console.

I highly doubt that MAG is hyped nearly enough to be a big enough flop to rival Haze.

I'd vote for The Force Unleashed, or maybe Killzone 2, but even Killzone 2 is a reach.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

for all those who are saying LBP will be a flop, because other people do not know about it, just wait for Sony's advertising. There will be a massive campaign behind this game, and I am almost 100% certain it will do well

i think forc eunleashe dbut i sure as hell hope not. LBP wont with sonys marketing.

^ I agree. People that saw trailers of the game are in love with it, and we're talking about hardcore gamer geeks that lurk in forums the whole day. Imagine when the averge joe sees this in the tv...

The game will only sell 500k first week if there are absolutely no adverts for it. With adverts, it will be a multiple of this. I 100% sure of this also....
