Commenting on things that aren't out is stupid. And MM9 is about the only such game (since games like Contra 4 didn't go back to the 8-bit look), so that comment really doesn't hold water. |
MM9 is an 8-bit game. 8-bit games came out 20+years ago. Its 2008 now. If you wanna do a 2D game fine but dont give me a stupid 8-bit game. I dont wanna play something like that in 2008.
Of course, the opinions of a handful of internet-bound gamers is hardly going to shape the decisions of Igarashi. At least, I certainly HOPE they won't. We forum-dwelling sorts tend to be insanely opinionated and known for unrealistically high expectations...

I don't think we're too opinionated about Castlevania. We only have two requests.
1. Keep it an adventure game
2. Keep it in 2D
Outside of that, I think we all let the man go as wild as he wants to.
Filming in black and white, recording crackle, 35mm film degradation, vellum parchment, oil based paints, etc....
There are many entertainment mediums that go back and reuse classic creation methods, including all their faults, for the purpose of recreating the classic feel.
Don't like the artistic approach? Don't buy it. But don't call it stupid.

so does Baddman
A fine sentiment there, which sadly is not likely to sway the most vocal sorts out there. I guess some just prefer to be extremists over taking the sensible route...

Huh? Is that directed towards me?
