Also, Yasumi Matsuno (director of Final Fantasy XII and Vagrant Story) has stated that he'll be making a game for the Wii.

He doesn't specifically state the game will be an RPG, but it is highly likely it will be.

I thought Makai Wars for PS3 was cancelled. And I think untitled games shouldn`t be counted.

Untitled but announced projects are still listed as games to be released unless they are cancelled.

Isen't Makai War a tactical RPG ?

Anyway, I think Nippon Ichi confirmed they would not make any PS3 games, shifting to Wii and DS.

I also think you forgot White Knight Story on PS3.

Is KH3 platform still unknown ?

This thread has gotten pretty vicious. Me no likey. The carebear inside me years for gentler times, softer lighting, and threads with less hostility and subtext.

It's definately amazing to have the 360 at the top of the list for jrpgs considering the orginal Xbox's showing. Unfortunately it probably won't be for long until Square Enix announces their endless sequels, prequels, spinoffs, remakes, and main installements for the Wii/PS3 that'll put them ahead.

It's sad, isn't it? At least it's better than last generation, though. Square now has FF XI out, has Project Sylpheed on the way, and Last Remnant as a real, solid RPG on the console in development. Did Xbox 1 have ANY games by Square of any kind?

You are missing some games.
PS3: White Knight Story (factor 5), megazone 23 & Agalest Senki (compile hearts), Rengoku (hudson), Angel wings (SCEJ), mist of chaos (idea factory) and Project D (namco). None have set release dates yet.

360:Far east of eden (hudson) and sabgoku Fuushin (idea factory)

Wii: Harvest moon (don't know if you count this as RPG). I think Konami and Namco have also said they are working on Wii RPG's.

TBH I think most of the JRPGs are heading to the DS or PSP these days.

None.  At least now Square Enix is realizing there's a potential audience out there that it doesn't make business sense to exclude.

Shin Megami Tensie is already released via the Virtual Console in Japan and if you put it that way then, there are a few more ones like Breath of Fire II, Fire Emblem Monshou no Kazo, Hercules no Eikou III, Fire Emblem Seisen no Keifu, which already have been released.

And you forgot Mario Story, which supposed to release in Japan in June, but has postponed to July and will make it 2 N64 games instead of 1, the other one is Wave Race by the way.

Topic was next-gen JRPGs, not 15 yo ones :)

Blame the topic starter not me, he writes down virtual console games at first not me.

I'm even surprised WII is mentioned in the "next gen JRPG list" anyway...
