red steel

SW: TFU looks pretty high budget too, although seeing the game is multiplat the costs are probably lower.

It wasn't exactly UE2. They ported it over to Wii. Yes, that's fact.

Ubisoft Paris claims they actually optimized the engine for Wii and called it Unreal Engine 2.5. I know that for sure.

Though we all know the graphics aren't the greatest (considering it was a launch title) there probably is some truth to the above statement.

Red Steel unfortunately...

Go buy Metroid OTHER M!

red steel was most expensive game so far for the wii - 12.75mln$ but i don't remember if it was only developing costs or whole budget fo this project(promotion, shipping to stores and so on).

Red Steel was like 10-12 million, but that includes the full cost of making the engine. Haven't heard of anything higher.

The engine was the Unreal 2 Engine, so the budget was all the other resources.

It included the cost of porting that engine to the Wii.

First of all, it wouldn't have cost that much to port. Second, you claimed they made the engine, which is not true.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

promotional costs must have been very high for Red Steel, it was on the TV all the time around the wii launch. Saying anything else has high production costs would be purely guesswork though.

If only game budgets could be tracked like sales. Probably Red Steel though.
