@ KylieDog
why does those things make it hard ot compare? surely it amkes them easier to compare since there are features that differenciate the two

Am I the only one who sees the logical fallacy in all of this?
Why does it matter if there are 5,000,000 enemies on screen if you can only ever interact with 5-7 of them at any given time?
Seriously, this whole argument of "THOUSANDS OF ON-SCREEN ENEMIES IN HD GAMES!!!!" has always been ridiculous...
"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
@People saying it wouldn't be a fair comparison because they aren't using the same engine, or it obviously shows the Wii can't run it because it is using a different engine: Maybe the RE4 engine works better with the architecture of the Wii than the engine used for the 360 game. This means the game would probably have better grtaphics/run smoother using an engine that works better on the Wii than if it used the same engine as the 360. So it would actually be more fair to compare. Another reason they could be using the RE4 engine is that the layout and controls would be easier to fit. Also the Force Unleased wouldn't be a good comparison because they are being developed by different teams, and the Wii game is probably an upgraded port of the PS2 game. Maybe we should look at Call of Duty 5 since they are using the same engine, and the Wii game isn't a port. It is also more recent.
| DMeisterJ said: Why should we wait for this game to look better? We judge every other game (PS360) based off of screenshots, why not this one? And as stickball said, the game isn't Dead Rising 360, as if it was, it'd be running the same engine. It's RE4 with Dead Rising location and characters. If this is the case though, then why release screenshots? If we're just going to wait for games to come out before we judge them. Then let's never speak of screenshots again, and let's never judge an incomplete product. That means no listening to previews, demos, hands-on, etc. We judge based on the information given to us. Finished or not, if someone is going to release screens, demos, hands-on, etc, it will be judged, and this game or any game should not be special. That's my take. |

The thousands of enemies in Heavenly Sword were pretty cool. And you could interact with all of them. And it does matter because having thousands of enemies running at you gives you a much bigger rush than 10-20 guys running at you. Or even 100-200 guys.
I never understood that one fact about Dead Rising. Even if they have 300 zombies on-screen, you can't kill them all anyway and you'll probably spend most of your time running away from them.

It's the same as Grand Theft Auto. You can't kill everything at once in that game either, but it brings the environment more to life by having so many characters on screen at once.

Not really.
Unless you were using the cannon on them, you couldn't really do anything to them, and even then, you could never hit them ALL at once.
As for having that many charging at you...I guess? But I think we as gamers all understand that when you're dealing with that many enemies, they all take only a few hits to kill each and are relatively easily dispatched.
I'm far more intimidated by one extremely difficult enemy than I am by an endless horde of easily-slain enemies.
You could probably fool people if you dropped a controller into the hands of a non-gamer and had them play Dead Rising or Heavenly Sword, but given enough time, even the non-gamer would figure out that individual enemies actually pose very little danger to them.
RE4, IMHO, had the prefect number of enemies and each enemy was just as dangerous as they needed to be. I loved DR, but I mostly just pushed through the zombies or mowed them down with a mannequin torso, heh.

Interesting how most of the negative comments are centered on how things look rather than how the game plays.
I know the OP is about graphics ... but to me it is far more important that it runs well so it plays well and that I have targets. That appears to be the objective.
If it cannot look as pretty as other efforts - that will be no never mind to me. Like most people, I am playing my games on an SDTV.
