The thousands of enemies in Heavenly Sword were pretty cool. And you could interact with all of them. And it does matter because having thousands of enemies running at you gives you a much bigger rush than 10-20 guys running at you. Or even 100-200 guys. |
Not really.
Unless you were using the cannon on them, you couldn't really do anything to them, and even then, you could never hit them ALL at once.
As for having that many charging at you...I guess? But I think we as gamers all understand that when you're dealing with that many enemies, they all take only a few hits to kill each and are relatively easily dispatched.
I'm far more intimidated by one extremely difficult enemy than I am by an endless horde of easily-slain enemies.
You could probably fool people if you dropped a controller into the hands of a non-gamer and had them play Dead Rising or Heavenly Sword, but given enough time, even the non-gamer would figure out that individual enemies actually pose very little danger to them.
RE4, IMHO, had the prefect number of enemies and each enemy was just as dangerous as they needed to be. I loved DR, but I mostly just pushed through the zombies or mowed them down with a mannequin torso, heh.
"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
