Epic shooters are anything but generic. Name a 3rd person shooter on par with Gears.

You know, not everyone is a diehardf materialist who would sell thier mothers for a couple of dollars like you seem to think or are yourself. Some people have integrity, artistic ambitions who aren't "in it" purely for the money.

I give Epic credit for the UT series - really well done. There may not be a 3rd person shooter on par with GoW, but that doesn't save it from a boring artstyle, and a boring story.
I'm pretty sure every Wii owner has the option to go purchase a X360 or PS3 if they want to play more shooters.
Why the complaining about it? I'm glad cross-platform HD shooters aren't being watered down and stuck on the Wii. That's not what the Wii is for, IMO. RPGs, Marios, Zeldas.... good stuff that, and not by coincidence, also sells well in Japan. Shooters... no.

(quality support, Ubidays fiasco) It's looking like Wii owners are only happy when companies are supporting the system. Even telling you the truth gets your games trashed and called assholes. If Wii owners got over the notion that you have to make games on the system to make money (not true), then they'd be a much happier bunch. |
People are happy when people tell them what they want to hear... more than half the time people don't want to hear the truth. Wii fans don't want to hear a company blowing by support on them because they make enough money elsewhere... they want to hear you can make a good game on Wii and make money off of it. I'm personally tired of hearing the reviewers tell all these games that Gears of War is a AAA game when the truth is its a mediocre stereotypical shooter that should have been reviewed as such. Instead becuase people don't want to hear the truth they go to the bullshit reviews instead.
People are easy to understand so this is why this PR rant pisses people off so much. I personally could care less. After GoW I'm not buying any Epic games on any platform until they can show me they can make a game that doesn't further stereotypes and over saturation. So they can say this all they want because it's not what they need to say but its what they should say given their situation... just like I'll continue to say what I've been saying through this post. It's not what people want me to say but its what should be said.

Artistic ambitions? More of that stuff? Lol you're hilarious, DTG :D |
True that he is hilarious. I'll repost what I posted so you can read it DTG:
They want to protect their business which is to license the Unreal Engine to other developers not wealthy enough to afford the high cost development for HD games. The Wii paradigm shift that is happening directly threatens their business model. Instead of looking to diversify their operations by creating an engine made specifically for the Wii, they deny the importance of the Wii so they can justify their decision not to support the Wii in front of their shareholders.
How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
I guess you guys never heard about people who regard their freedom to artistic expression more important than monetary compensation. In your world money must be everything.

I guess you think comments about their games supposedly not appealing to Wii owners is about art and not money. Well it is about money, so your comment fails.
If they were doing it for the art, they would mention the processing power, and NOT unproven assumptions of the audience.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

what you say is true but they are very few :P
epic is not one of them, money is first and that’s why they fear the Wii because it might not make them money
