How would this gen's console wars look different if MS had never gotten into the console business?

edit: I removed the first two paragraphs of this post because they weren't really adding a whole lot, but they were distracting some people from the topic I was hoping to discuss. (I only included them in the first place because I was trying to show I'm not anti-MS, I just thought it would be an interesting hypothetical to discuss)

FF XII would still be a ps3 exclusive

It would look far better, I still think they should gtfo... if not the first XBox the Gamecube would sell better (and it deserves those sales, unlike the box), and if it did, we could see a truly different console from Nintendo. Anyway, I would prefer Microsoft not to get in.

If not for the xbox PS3 may not have seen a price cut... but without them PS3 would have had the best and most JRPG games and would be outselling the Wii if you add the 360 sales with PS3 ones.

It would when Sony would see that no one's buying.

Sony wouldn't have a HD, but just a huge mem card. Also their online would be crap without xbox.

We wouldn't had a PS3 until.. 2008..
