Now that I've established myself I'm capable of buying 20 of those Wii's and still set a course towards the wonders of eating breakfast at starbucks, lunch at the local applebees and go out with friends or family for the night and all on my tab. Maybe's it's because I have money now... I wonder if other people have money when they get older...

Good for you dude.

But what this has to do with any console ? It's not like people are buying the Wii because of it's price as the 360 is cheaper.

He means adults buy Wii's because they are the one's with the money.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

How is the 360 cheaper? it's not.

Your "usual" adults buy the Wii because of word of mouth/big advertising.

@steven ding ding (thanks)

Kids can complain all they want for something, it doesn't mean they will get it, even then the parent would need some motivation strong enough to staple the value of $250 on it.

No instead what we see is tunnel vision consumers, that's why the Wii is a fad and why it sells so much.

So when one trick ponys start spewing out thier jibber about Nintendo consoles being for kids you should automatically picture them in your head as some cross eye'd drooling big nose pimpled four eyed otaku with the largest adams apple and a crooked neck with two rabbit teeth sticking out and parted gelled hair with pocket protectors... that's what I do... oh and they are always fat. (Add long hair for girls. Yes, women can be hardcore gamers too.)

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Had no idea by using the word fad I would touch off such a big issue.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

well isn't it obvious? Not many teens or adults buy the wii now, it's all for lil kids and babies. Same thing is happening to the DS. Everyone I know who has a wii actually wants to get rid of it and get a 360 or ps3! So yes it is still a fad, but more like a novelty.

Now you're confusing me. First all you Sony fanboys keep saying that the Wii only appeals to pensioners and soccer moms, now it's kiddy again? And I think it's a save bet that more adults and teenagers own the Wii now than either the 360 or the PS3. Not yet combined, but that will be the case in a couple of months.

The funny thing is that everyone I know who has a PS3 is a minor. This means that not many adults have a PS3. The other case is, that one of the people I know who has a PS3 has a Wii as well. This clearly means that about 50% of the PS3-owners have a Wii. Same thing is happening to the PSP.

Right?

One final question: how can something be a novelty for almost two years?

They did a study and morepeople ages 25-36 have a ps3.

More people ages 15-24 have an xbox 360 and wii. So more older people are buying the ps3. But there are a lot of kids in all 3 systems fanbases.

I am 38 and have a 360 looks like I am in my own demographic

No your saying remember when it 'was' a fad.

I'm saying it still is a fad, and I'm sure Nintendo hopes it stays a fad for a very long time, until in hindsight declares it a cultural phenomina.

@Dno: How about people above 36? If there's no studies about that group, you really can't make that assumption, unless you are talking about age of 36 or below. And even then the whole argument is flawed as the group is only one part of the market.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

The Wii is a fad.

We can say what we want about the WII being a fad or not, but it is doing very very well in terms of sales. It will win this generation for most consoles sold.

You can't proove the Wii isn't a fad for another couple of years from at least , if it's selling 20-30k worldwide ( unlikely ) every month after january then it could be considered a fad.

Console life cycles can be as long as 10 years so we'll see how well the Wii compares at it's end.
