Burnout Paradise, rated E10+ by the ESRB and 3+ by PEGI, is currently available worldwide on PS3 and Xbox 360, and will be available for download on PSN.

I find it ironic that while Microsoft is boasting about how downloadble content is the future of the industry and that Sony is the only one actually usng it.

Sony is the only one doing something about it? That's funny because as I recall Micrsoft had Xbox Live up and running a year before the PS3 came out. Microsoft also keeps a steadier stream of games coming on XBox Live than Sony does on PSN. It's funny how you say this in the middle of Summer of Arcade, which is Microsoft's big XBLA marketing push. Five weeks of five of the biggest XBLA releases yet. While Sony lazely puts together a pathetic package of PSOne classics, Microsoft gives gamers the Xbox Originals they actually want to buy. Then again, it's funny that Sony is getting credit for a move done by a third party developer and publisher. Maybe you hadn't heard but Burnout Paradise isn't a Sony game.

I know Burnout is not made by Sony, it's made by Criterion games. I just thought it was ironic that Microsoft is being outperformed by Sony in the realm of downloadable games due to the fact that Microsoft sets a limit on the amount of space a developer can use to create a game.

I don't see any full games on XBLA marketplace though. All I see is a bunch of cheap and pathetic over-priced games that have no creativity or value. I would rather have a select few high-quality games on PSN than a bunch of shit games thrown at me every week with a 15 dollar price tag.

That sentence is possibly the single stupidest thing I have had the displeasure of reading on this forum. The rest of the paragraph is a close runner-up, though.

I think it's ironic that there is a preponderance of Sony fans who can't just be jazzed about Sony doing something that they like unless they can use it to bash the 360 (this thread, the one about LBP "embarrassing" Live, etc). And by "ironic," I mean "lame as fuck."

I wasn't bashing the 360. I was bashing microsoft for snuffing out innovation and creativity in almost every game  they release.

As SSJ12 has already stated have you seen any genuinely creative games released on XBLA such as Flow, Flower, or Pixeljunk Eden? I think not.

I think it is rediculous the restrctions that they place on developers. As for LBP embarassing Xbox Lve, it will and already has.

I don't even know where to begin...

First: You weren't bashing the 360, you were bashing the company who makes it? Way to split hairs. "Snuffing out innovation and creativity in almost every game they release," huh? Do you want to back that up with some examples?

Second: I give credit where credit is due- PSN has some great games, and I'm really impressed with the offerings. But your characterization of XBLA was complete flamebait bullshit. Rarely is a game $15. And I guess you consider Ikaruga, Rez, Castlevania, Puzzle Quest, etc. etc. to be games without creativity and value. Braid is easily one of the most creative games I've played in my life.

Third: How can an as yet unreleased game embarrass an online service? Apples and dinosaurs.

Third: How can an as yet unreleased game embarrass an online service? Apples and dinosaurs.

First: It is common knowledge that Microsoft sets strict restrictions on XBLA developers. A good example is the Braid developer who stated that their restrictions are rediculous and that he would never publish another game on the platform.

Second: I know my characterization was flamebait bullshit. I understand XBLA has some great games. But many of them are overpriced (Braid=$15) and they are no where near the quality of psn games except for a few exceptions. Braid is also coming to PSN after the timed exclusive contract ends.

Third: LBP embarasses Xbox Live through capabilities that are not possible on it due to Microsoft's restrictions. User generated conten, through which a prime example is UT3, as stated by microsoft has no place on xbox live. LBP achieves something that is not possible on Xbox Live. As shown through the limitations of N+, UT3, and others, Microsoft abhors the thought of user generated content, and that is the very area that LBP shines in.

Feel free to add me as your friend-PSN ID: Bobo012893

it is ironic but microsoft said it is the future of gaming period. not just on 360.

so i say its ironic that sony have done this as surely they think blue-ray is the future lol

so Sony is proving Microsoft right aren't they?!

I think the original poster is focusing more on the fact that the PSN is seeing PS3 game releases such as Warhawk, Socom Confrontation, Siren, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, GT5:P and now Burnout Paradise.

I think it is important to note that these are full retail PS3 games that are available for digital distribution.  Also, Fatal Inertia and Burnout Paradise are 3rd party games that were released as dvd only on the 360.  Siren is a 10 gig game released for download.  (That would be a 2 dvd box set if released on the 360).

Microsoft should stop talking about digital distribution if they don't have any plans to do it this gen.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Blow said no such thing. He griped about having to do work he felt was redundant and said he wasn't sure if he'd do another XBLA game. He also posted in response to the article you're citing and said he felt the post made him out to be more negative about Microsoft than he actually is.

Second: I know my characterization was flamebait bullshit. I understand XBLA has some great games. But many of them are overpriced (Braid=$15) and they are no where near the quality of psn games except for a few exceptions. Braid is also coming to PSN after the timed exclusive contract ends.

Braid may come to PSN after Blow finishes a PC port. It is not a done deal. Of course, it would have been on PSN to begin with had Sony not turned him down in the first place. -2 for reading comprehension, btw.

Third: LBP embarasses Xbox Live through capabilities that are not possible on it due to Microsoft's restrictions. User generated conten, through which a prime example is UT3, as stated by microsoft has no place on xbox live. LBP achieves something that is not possible on Xbox Live. Then I reckon N+, UT3, "and others" do infinitely more to embarrass Live than LBP. Since, you know, they're actually on the service. Amazingly, N+ has sold like hotcakes. Not bad for a gimped port of a game that is an uncreative piece of shit to begin with, like all XBLA offerings.

What's the difference between N+ and the flash N you can download for PC?

Extra levels, I believe, and some multiplayer modes.

1. no idea on that but doesnt the XBL have a size limit for all XBLA games?

2. did Sony turn him down?

3. lol, sad part is that there are many titles on the PC that blow away XBLA titles but not PSN titles. Take Geo Wars for example. It is a direct ripoff of Neon Wars by BlitWise and there is a game called Bullet Candy on Steam that is way better and cheaper. Geo Wars is offered on Steam btw.

1. It's been raised several times. I'm not sure what it is currently, but apparently Microsoft is pretty willing to work with devs on the limit.

2. Yeah, he approached Sony first. They didn't want it, so somebody from Microsoft approached him.

3. Good? I guess?

Edit: Though PSN's Ragdoll Kung Fu is said to be a gimped piece of shit compared to the proper PC version. We'll see, I guess.

Apart from multiplayer, you can play user levels on the flash version. Can you do that with N+?

Also, apparently Wiki says that v1.5 is in development. Cool cause N is a fun game to play and frustrating just like Jumper.....
