Still disolitude with it's user base it has to be tempting for them.
What if the wii became the lead console for development?
Just a tought.

The Rockstar would probably hang themselves, since they pretty much ignore the wii sans for a few halfarsed ports

No one would hang themselves. there are plenty of developers that dont do Wii at all(Valve, Epic, ID games)...and most others are doing half assed ports of their major titles (Ubisoft, Activision, Capcom). Very few devs are doing Wii only development and Segas platnum games seems to be one with madworld.

In any case, for wii to become the major developing platform this gen...hell would have to freeze over...and all people that are on the Jenny Craig diet would have to do a 4 minute mile. For devs to make Wii the major developing platform they would have to throw out all sense of visual and sound innovation and focus on controller innovation. This would mean that a well established studio like Valve would have no more experience in doing a Wii game than the guys who did Nijabread man.

And strictly speaking from a monitary perspective... Wii may outsell ps3 and 360 by more than 50% eventually but it will never outsell PC+PS3 +360 in games. PS360 do PC ports (somewhat....not crysis tho)...Wii doesn't.

Mad World is a failure waiting to happen, it's closest relative on the Wii is No More Heroes, which was a great game but the Japan sales were horrible. Not saying Japan is the only country that matters, but compare those games to their most succesful relative Devil May Cry. What is the difference there?

Hardcore doesn't exist only good games, this game fails already.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

It is for EA's latest Harry Potter game. Others are ports of the Wii game. Read that in the... IGN article I think or IGN video for the game, one of the two, yesterday.

I'm not to much up on the tech side it was more of a tought than anything else.

@reask

To tell you the truth, I enjoy the "good" wii games quite a lot. Games where motion controls weren't just added on after the game was made... Boomblox was great... I wouldn't mind if more of these games got made. But like superchunk said about harry potter...only the games which involve waiving things around make sense to be made for the wii.

Star Wars Unleashed will probably turn out good...

day one buy for Mad world

Sega is part of that flood of crap. Sure their crap smell better than 90% of the other developers, but they haven`t tried very hard so far. The best Sega games I have played this gen are ports (House of the Dead, Ghost Squad). If Mad World will prove anything, it is that niche games sell like shitty on any console.
Sega is all about sweet words. They have been saying this for a long time. Just wake me up when they release Yakuza 2 on the US.

@ disolitude
My fav games are fps but there is hardly any on the wii.
There is a wii in the house but I never play it.
If it had more games I like I would be playing it.
So there is a market there for the hardcore imo.

Finally...thirds parties r awekening. This is just the beginning people

@Disolitude: Why should they focus on controller innovation, when people want gameplay innovation (not necessarily innovation, but good gameplay)? And another thing, graphical innovations can be done on Wii as well. It's not a matter of specs. Besides, as long as the developers try to up the specs they manage to get out of the consoles, we are not going to see any innovations.

It's not going to take long before PC:s are out of reach for consoles and since we included PC into discussion, why not making Wii/PC titles? Or Wii/PS3/360/PC? With Wii as the leading platform, porting would be somewhat easy, since there wouldn't be problems in fitting the game specswise for the other platforms. Slight graphical update and since the vast majority of PS360 games already are upscaled from lower resolutions, there wouldn't be problems with the resolution either. A minor graphical innovation could even bring the graphics more scalable.
