Not that I agree with him, which I don´t but, for example:

VCG - PS3 - 180k

NPD = PS3 - 225k

45k difference - 45/180 = 0.25 = 25% off

 

PSP has more than a 10% difference too. I´m too lazy to do the others, so I´mjust gonna end it here. :D

 

I was talking about the LTD numbers on the front page:

 

Wii 30.91

360: 20.30

ps3: 14.73

 

I doubt they are off by more or less than 10%

 

Well, since no one is God here, I guess we will never know, because if in a simple week it´s hard to know how much you´re off, imagine LTD.

ioi still adjust numbers all the time, however he may not adjust them to NPD right away. The only truely accurate source is manufacturer shipped numbers, however, then you still have to estimate stock levels. In the past, VGChartz has been closer to shipped numbers than NPD, but that doesn't take into account any adjustments NPD made, while it does for VGChartz. Give it a month and we'll see what happened.

However, with manufacture numbers, you at least know if you're massivly overtracking with 100% accuracy, because you can't have more sold than shipped.

 




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

It was expected, last month was MGS4 month, and there was a bundle released. In fact people were expecting it to be a way bigger drop because ioi had said there were some shortages, so this is actually pretty nice.

If you say so. To me and NPD not having 40%+ of the market to count allows them the ability to be just as off as VGC or any other tracking firm. Just look how far off the two Japanese firms are from one another most weeks.

EDIT: Read norlead's post, also shows NPD has historically been farther off than VGC.

VGC is 20% lower than NPD number. BUT, NPD number is 25% higher than VGC´s, which is what I was going for, so I am right as well.

The Wii did terribly as always, <50% of either the PS/360 totals - fads obviously blown over completely.

 

huh? oh! your the guy that was making stupid threads about how the 360 will outsell the ps3 for the month of july, arnt you? the fact that you use vgchartz numbers to prove your predictions shows just how stupid you are!

 

 How does that make him stupid? Many credible sources use VGChartz data. Also, many analysts say that VGChartz's data is of a high enough quality to make projections based off of them.
