I'm not sure... but do people always get laid off in mass within this industry?

I have no doubt these people will find new jobs, so it does not really matter if Activision Blizzard fires them. The industry is expanding and people with experience making games for HD systems will be grabbed by other developers.

Yes, I'm sure they're all going exclusively into HD gaming.
This is what is referred to as corporate restructuring. Unfortunately it is usually for the better. When a company restructures their internal divisions they tend to become more cost effective, more competitive, and less redundant. The natural result being better games, sooner, and they cost less to produce.
Unfortunate I know that so many people are losing their jobs, but when the merger took place certain cost cutting measures and restructuring were needed to keep the company healthy. On the bright side they are still developing the two more promising games.
Crash has a proven track record, and if he actually gets the development resources he needs to compete with Mario and Banjo that could mean a return to glory. By the way not a fan of Crash in any way.
Prototype looks to be a very promising game, and it is getting the development time it richly deserves. Looks to be light years beyond Crackdown, and to me it looks like it will be a better game then InFamous. I would have felt let down had they abandoned this project. I expect to be enjoying this game late next spring.
While I enjoyed Scarface for the Wii. I can see how it does not have the stones to take on an overcrowded genre. With the likes of Grand Theft Auto, Godfather, APB, and Disaster. Let alone all the other open world titles on the horizon. The game though I may be more interested in it then Crash would have probably not been a commercial success. On the bright side it might not be a total loss I am sure some parts of the game could make it to prototype. Most specifically some of the soundtrack that might have already been purchased.
I actually know somebody who works for Radical,(I live in Vancouver) I wonder if he is one of them. He has only been there for 1+ year, so it's quite possible he will be.
I also have a friend (the previous guy is more of an acquaintance) who works at EA Burnaby and he's taken me there as a guest for tours of the facility, (parts I was allowed to see of course) and it was quite the place.
some of them will for certain get picked up by rockstar vancouver who is looking to add to its workforce.
also ea burnaby, vancouver, and bioware are looking for: 11 artists, 2 sound engineers, 7 designers, 12 software engineers, 3 IT technicians, 4 QAs, etc (I only browsed through about half of their openings)

Funny thing is that EA is not acting so EA-like. It is trying to establish some new IPs. Meanwhile, A-B seems to just want to make money in the short-run buy slashing and burning the inventory and only releasing sequels and franchises.

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
In too deep I guess...
It does make some sense but I doubt it's correct.. what my friend here is saying in case your wondering, is that HD games / SD games no longer require as many human resources as before.
