This is what is referred to as corporate restructuring. Unfortunately it is usually for the better. When a company restructures their internal divisions they tend to become more cost effective, more competitive, and less redundant. The natural result being better games, sooner, and they cost less to produce.
Unfortunate I know that so many people are losing their jobs, but when the merger took place certain cost cutting measures and restructuring were needed to keep the company healthy. On the bright side they are still developing the two more promising games.
Crash has a proven track record, and if he actually gets the development resources he needs to compete with Mario and Banjo that could mean a return to glory. By the way not a fan of Crash in any way.
Prototype looks to be a very promising game, and it is getting the development time it richly deserves. Looks to be light years beyond Crackdown, and to me it looks like it will be a better game then InFamous. I would have felt let down had they abandoned this project. I expect to be enjoying this game late next spring.
While I enjoyed Scarface for the Wii. I can see how it does not have the stones to take on an overcrowded genre. With the likes of Grand Theft Auto, Godfather, APB, and Disaster. Let alone all the other open world titles on the horizon. The game though I may be more interested in it then Crash would have probably not been a commercial success. On the bright side it might not be a total loss I am sure some parts of the game could make it to prototype. Most specifically some of the soundtrack that might have already been purchased.
