How can you be surprised about the low Wii number in NA?

It's obvious Nintendo prefers to sell their Wiis in Europe because 250 euro makes way more profit than 250 dollar!

It does. But 250$ makes more profit than huge amount of consoles waiting in the warehouses to be bought.

I'm not sure why companies stockpile, but it's fair to say that they do indeed do it. Particularly for the Xmas season. I would wager a guess that it is a marketing decision designed to prevent anger over shortages and to sell extra software.

That said, I'm not sure if stockpiling is to blame for the Wii the last 2 weeks.

I know there is no stock, but it might just be these huge weeks lately finally catching up to them, or some kind of production line or shipping problem.

However, one thing is for certain. These numbers are due to lack of supply of the Wii. There are none in the channel at all major online retailers, and they are going used on Ebay and Amazon stores for more than they cost brand new.

That, along with reasoning, is all I need to prove that conclusion beyond a reasonable doubt.

The only question now is, "Why is it out of stock more in the last two weeks than in the previous four?"

I'd be remiss to speculate. Stockpiling seems a common theory.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Reason they stockpile is because they can make more money from it. If you are the store with the only hot xmas item left you will not be selling it at standard price. It is a buisness don't forget.

As for the NA numbers i think this is further proof the supposed shortages are over and things have returned to normal. Interestingly this week a year ago the PS3 sold 35k, so a 15k increase is good for them!

Next week is Madden so be cool to see how that goes now there are 5m+ PS3's there.

Read my earlier post about the production ramps... And that post had nothing to do with the stockpiling, i was just saying that since there are no shortages in Europe, it makes no sense to send them there to Nintendos warehouse for waiting to be sold.

Idea in stockpiling for christmas is, that when you have specific product in your shelf, people who come to ask for the product, are propably going to shop other stuff too from you. If someone comes to ask you "do you have any Wiis" and if you're out of stock, the customer isn't going to buy you anything and leaves for the next store. But if you do, the customer may pick up a few games to go along.

The 60GB xbox360 goes on sale tomorrow in Europe so next weeks WW sales figures are likely to have the xbox out selling PS3 by quite a bit.

next week ps3 should outsell 360

Next week something will happen.... I am 99% sure I will be correct.

PS3 continues its dramatic rise....high 20,000s, mid 40,000s to....50,000 exactly!

Will the PS3 hit 60,000 next week?

Will the 360 stick or twist?

Will Nintendo give a shit?

Tune in next week

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Within 1 month, Squilliam's sig will be back in the red for the 360 again.

Believe.

I think the PS3 will start sleeping with the Wii behind 360's back.
