Forums - Sales - What the heck is happening in Others?

Europe is casual land which is why big reason why PS2 did so well in Europe and why Pro Evolution sells so well every single year. Also the reason why Mario Kart is completely crushing Brawl in Europe even though we all know Brawl is the better game (yes Larry Lion and Roland you both know).

With only 1 casual current gen console it is not suprising that Wii is crushing its competitors.

You only say that because we are faster than you.

Nintendo doesn't miss a beat when it comes to earning tons of cash.

For a while there were two shortages of Wii:

Others

Americas

Europe has a comparable market now, and the currency is stronger with a higher price point for hw and sw. Guess where Nintendo sent the Wiis? Europe.

The shortage in Europe is ending but still an issue to some extent in the USA, and the dollar has gotten a bit stronger. So now we should be more Wiis here in the USA and Americas.

might have market share, but market share cannot produce halos or snakes

I think the 360 might be stealing a few sales from the PS3 as well.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

TBH I think the opposite. The PS3 is stealing sales away from the 360. Sad to see as 360 has a better 'harcore' line-up at the moment.

End of '08 predictions (made by theprof00): PS3: 20m, 360: 23.5m, wii: 42m

Now Playin':  PS3|Resistance 2, LBP, Uncharted and Fifa 09, PSP| Ratchet and Clank: Size matters, 360| Gears of war 2 and Fallout 3.

Halo is not a franchise to be envied.

As for Snake (Metal Gear Solid), I think I can sleep at night even without MGS4 on my Wii, it's really not the required gaming experience all the sub-normer gamers try to make it out to be.

Nintendo consoles are selling well because
1: They have the games the european audiences want to buy. For the week ending the 9th, only 2 of the top 20 game sales weren't on nintendo consoles, and they were both Soul Calibur 4. European people are crazy for Mario Kart Wii for some reason, and Wii Fit, both selling over 2 million in Others alone and they're still in the top 5 games.

2: They're actually getting enough supply. Right now the cheapest you can get a Wii on amazon.com is 300$, and that's for a used one. OTOH, in europe they're selling for their MSRP, which to me shows they are getting enough supply.

3: A lack of big games for any console. This benefits the Wii, as the Wii doesn't need the boost from a AAA game to sell like crazy.

On a side note, when I was checking the price on the wii in the UK/Europe I found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Wii-Console-Sports/dp/B0007UATDG .
Wii: Originally 179.99 Pounds, now discounted to 179.98! What a deal!

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

its because of low stock.
PS3 will rebound back 2 where it was, but i highly doubt it can pass the wii. maybe in the distant future, but not now.

Nope.

There's no stock shortage in Europe/Others. Read some threads.

i think you will find that sony are running low on 40gb ps3 all over the world not just the US. pluss people are holding out for the 80gb ps3.

if anything i am shocked the ps3 is still selling so well just befor the introduction of a new sku

Someone actually said PS3 would beat Wii in others overall? Was PS3 ever even ahead of Wii in others for any period of time other then the occasional month?

Edit: Ah you had the numbers yourself... but yeah... no PS3 was never going to overtake the Wii... if anyone suggested they would they likely got a little fanboyish.
