Poeple are being ignorant it's not the fact that the XBOX 360 is american , it's microsoft's faliure to sell the XBOX brand to japanese in a way that apeals to them. Japanese people aren't going to ditch a product they feel to be superior for inferior japanese alnternatives they may be patriotic but they aren't stupid.

The Japanse XBOX brand obviously isn't apealing to the Japanse people , the PS3 which is arguably inferior in what it can offer to the japanese gamer ( in terms of software suited to the japanase gamer ) has a stronger image in japan , a brand name which apeals to the japanese gamer and one they can relate to.

I can't think of any of the top of my head by i'm sure there are western electronic companies that do well there , don't they use Windows XP over there ?

But its more shooters on pS3, so i cant understand what you try make it look like.

The 360 and PS3 catter more to western audiences so they both dont sell well in Japan. Although Microsoft is trying to get Japanese gamers the XBOX brand In japan isnt big anyways.

I think Blue Dragon and Tales of Vesperia have shown that it can, in fact, sell in Japan. Software moves hardware; MS just need to get the right software.

Microsoft do not know how to advertise stuff in japan.

they are treating this region like europe and america but they are never going to get anywhere by doing that.

I mean look how sony have been advertising littlebigplanet in that region, that is something sony would not do in europe or america, i mean life sized sack boys

 That is why Apple's iPod had (and may still, I am not sure) the market lead over Sony's Walkman?

Japanese market for HD gaming is not doing nearly as well as PS2 and Gamecube did last gen. And xbox 360 is actually outselling the xbox in a slower market....so its not selling that badly in my opinion.

I am not into flame bait or any flame wars of any kind, I enjoy both 360, ps3 and WII and think they all have a place in console gameing. I was just wondering why the 360 dosent sell well in japan.  I would love to see it sell 1 million in japan.  I will be posting more and hope you and everyone else will continue to respond.

In truth 360 is my favorite system but I understand I am a hardcore gamer which that system is most geared too.

I do agree it has the best shooters but I dont think its a shooter only console especially these days.

I thought that actually kind of funny that Americans just pick based on what they consider the best system
