Forums - Sony - I dont think Little big planet is going to do well.

I don't think it will sell as well as, say Resistance 2, but I doubt it has anything to do with its difficulty.

It seems to me, that it might not convince all the fence-setter core gamers for the PS3, those who have already pre-ordered Resistance 2.

The game has maximum potential of MGS4. It's almost certainly not gonna sell that well.

Now, LBP 2 is gonna blow it up. It's just the new IP in a questionable genre that many perceive as an "online game." It will sell well, for an original IP platformer. It won't change the gaming world with its sales. Sony should just bundle it with the PS3, if it's as good as most people are expecting.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

In all honesty, could anyone tell me the goal of the game?

I mean, really, other than the idea of going from one end to the next by solving puzzles, what is the story? I have been searching and searching, but all I find is that you can interact with objects through realistic physics, compete with allies for prizes and use stickers and also make your levels. Despite that amount of information, I still don't know what is the story behind it. I feel like this game is almost like a demo for the PS3's capabilities for imitating physics.

However, I am not going to judge on the quality of the game. I believe the game is going to be great and may be fun. However, you cannot question the fact that it could become the Zack and Wiki of the PS3. Both are great games and both are a bit niche, with hardcore elements masked with a casual face. However, Zack and Wiki had the unfortunate fate of having no advertisements while LBP will probably be advertised to the ying yang by Sony as this is a game that will be shown as Sony's attempt to get the casuals back, despite it being only the second exclusive casual game (next to Ratchet and Clank) that Sony has with its $400 price tag.

Then there is the level editor option. I'm sorry, but I never knew a level editor part of the game can be the selling point of the game. I always thought it was the actual game that should be the selling part. I don't want to offend people who are actually psyched about making their own levels in the game, and actually be able to sell them to other people (probably with Sony making a small profit as well) but really, how much time are you willing to spend time with that? It feels like being in a Seinfeld episode where Kramer decided to open a Pizza store, but decides to make the customers make the pizza, then pay him for the pizza. How long are people going to be hooked to making their own levels for hours and hours, only to complete it with their friends in 10 minutes tops? Or pay OTHER people for their creations after completing the main game? Or have the incentive to finish the main game at all since their doesn't seem to be a goal to complete?

Maybe I am just pessimistic. I want this game to be my second reason for buying a PS3, next to MGS4, but I just feel it is going to be a game that I will lose interest...seeing how I rather play the game and not waste time pretending that I know or want to make a game.

Well, LittleBigPlanet is going to be a huge success whether you think it or not mainly because it has a HUGE appeal to all sorts of players but it could do even better if the PS3's price went down because it's a very casual-friendly title as well and the price is too high for new buyers, but despite that it's going to do extremely well.

The idea behind the game is realy something amazing, but I just don't see the PS3 fanbase/owners buying the PS3 for games like this. I could be wrong, and hope I am, but it's just a genre that doesn't fit with the PS3, or any Sony console for that matter.

The LBP hate is strong this week.

I like it though.

LBP loves all it's haters, it makes it feel greater.

i have high hopes but low expectations for sales of this game.

i base that entirely off the fact that it took several times watching trailers and previews before that "oh, okay now i get it" feeling and now i'm a huge believer in this game. so my question is - how does sony advertise this game. the way they advertise this will make/break its success imo.

...........I was serious when asking what the game really is about.................

........Does anybody know??

fun. Just creating things and running through platforming with the art of the game is limitless. Pop it in light up a delicious hookah and enjoy for hours with your friends. Just what us PS3 owners NEED.

Countles new levels daily....this game will rarely leave my PS3.

That's it?.....Now, I have played games with no ultimate goal like Wii Sports, Brain Age, and such...but a platformer with no goal but to run around in levels either given by the game or created by users and receiving prizes in the end....well, that's a new one for me....

Well, now I have to think about this one....don't know if I can honestly say I would want to buy the game if there isn't a story behind it.....
