OK, now that my Raisin Bran is finished...

As a Wii owner and Nintendofanboy, I must say that it MS will never stave off Sonydomination, as Sonydomination was strangled in its sleep by WiiSports.

But, yes, it IS a great time for the 360, which is why I just bought one (along with Dead Rising, Mass Effect and BioShock).

There is no doubt that 360 sales will exceed XBox's lifetime sales, probably by the end of this year, and should double that total if it is allowed to go another 2 years. And while it will never regain 1st place, the PS3 won't catch it for at least a year, probably 2.

Awesome games are on the way to be sure, though that is true of all the consoles (even if Nintendo won't tell us what they are).

Awesome games that are here? Tons. One nice thing about waiting 3 years to pick up a console is that there is a substantial back catalog at reduced prices. As I said, I have ME, Dead Rising, and BS, and plan on grabbing Orange Box, CoD4, GoW and Assassin's Creed, along with Banjo 3 (and 1 and 2 from XBL), GoW2, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, and Resident Evil 5 - AND my wife will be buying Rock Band 2 once that comes out (one reason she's been spurring me on to get the 360).

PLUS I can still play my favorite awesome games from the XBox, like Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Chronicles of Riddick, Beyond Good and Evil, and my beloved Psychonauts.

It sure is a great time for the 360, with the price drop and lots of cheap games I want to get one, but they still havent fixed the RROD issue yet, so im still waiting.

Maybe ill just get the next xbox, should come out in 2009 if MS releases a new system every 4 years. It would be awesome if it were BC too!

The Jasper units should run a heck of a lot cooler (process-size on the GPU is reduced), and heat is the primary cause of RROD.  I would wait until then.

You are indeed correct. Nothing like improving sales, even though there is a model on clearence. And there is nothing like seeing prices go down after you bought the console, sure does feel great.
I feel quite jealous that I wont get to play Uno with my friends online, since I don't own a 360, but I wont pray for one to drop by my feet. I'm not enough of a douche to worship a machine or the software for it. xD

out of all the x360 games I've seen coming up this year, castle crashers looks the best. Pretty much the one XBLA game i wished was on PSN (Rez HD would be nice as well, but I already own it in SD for ps2).

I'm in exactly the same boat.  I had a Wii and i was looking at PS3 vs 360.  All of my friends who had PS3s and 360s said that it was nice to have a BD player but games just played and looked better on the 360 for the most part.  I jumped in despite knowing that my 360 will almost certainly RROD or have another form of failure within a year or two.

And the 360 just had much better games (it still does) overall, and particularly the best games for me (since I don't like watching my games and have no interest in MGS 4).

MS could very likely hold off Sony until 2010 or later, and if they can do that then they've basically won the generation (compared to Sony).  Both MS and Sony are likely to release their next console by late 2011 or 2012 at the latest.

Microsoft has done an awesome job making inroads, despite their own incompetence, because they've gotten such good third party support.

I remember not too long ago there was a thread about what happened to the Xbox360 camp on this site... I believe there was a slew of thread actually - even a moderator had to step in to stop the anti-xbox fanatics.

Good to see the online front of the xbox360 fan base is still active.

Yea my pal was trying to convince me that Microsoft was fading away due the lack of a strong software lineup back about three months ago, I told him to just wait, but he insisted Microsoft shot off it's big guns in the first round. I tried explaining to him that technology is only foriegn to software once, that's what art directions and engines were for, at least on the same tech.

Now he's enjoying his PSN games though, so I guess he get's the point since it's become a non-issue.

So praising the Xbox360 you forgot to mention Summer of Arcade. The recent Arcade games are by far the best thing that could ever happen to a gamer. Braid, Geometry Wars2, Banjo 1 + 2, Castle Crashers and Portal coming to the Xbox360 is awesome. And the new Dashoard will be great, too.
