Forums - Gaming - What happened to Crash?

I used to like playing Crash Bandicoot games back in the day, and Crash was a pretty big thing, and the games were good to. But, somehow, Crash faded into obscurity and hasn't been considered important in years. Games about him are still released, but its just not the same. What do you think happened to Crash?

Yeah I wish Naughty Dog kept the IP, isn't it Actvision/Blizzard who owns it now? Thats why its crap now

Back in the day...wasn't this Crash character considered Sony's answer to both SEGA's Sonic and Nintendo's Mario?

thats how i always pictured him.

They sold Crash because Platformers weren't as popular around PS2 time as they were before. Maturing tastes and whatnot. Oh well, I think they needed something more serious like Jak 2 and 3 and 1 was meant to ween them a more kiddy platformer to something more serious.

Pixel Art can be fun.

a lot of bad games were made and people quit playing

universal owned the ip because otherwise nd wouldnt have been given the deal to work on it.  naughty dog did not feel it was worth buying the ip to continue developing on it.  i dont know the price, but considering the sales it must have been dam high.

universal sold most of its ip's (hence spyro as well) to sierra which is now under the activision/blizzard label.
