Metroid in 3D works better in first person than third person, because I say so. Three awesome games and you get to see the world through the eyes of a woman. What more do you want?

If you want the series to be in third person, you better explain how that would work and be superior to the games in first person.

Uhm..............................................................no.

Youve never even seen Metroid in Third-Person so it can possibly be better. I dont develop games so I cant answer that but I know its possible and Id like to see it in Third-Person.

i think metroid in 3rd person would have huge camera problems.

I don't, but it'd still be stupid. The biggest trouble with the camera would be aiming at enemies all around you; above, behind, left, right, but it works just fine in Zelda games. Puzzles wouldn't be to hard. Jumping/platforming wouldn't be difficult. I think it'd be easy, just no where near as good as first person.

Third Person wouldn't work well with a title like Metroid Prime. Can you imagine shooting precisely and scanning objects while seeing the backside of the character? It's near impossible to execute in an adventure game with shooting elements.

If anything, the first person perception makes the game alot more immersive. The art directions also becomes harder to appreciate in third person.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I'm all for 3d Metroid.

It's FPS Metroid I'm against.

No, I didn't skip Prime because it's first person, but I wish that I had.

That being said, Super Metroid is the ONLY Metroid.

Agree!

What didn't you like about the morph ball in Metroid Prime?

Oh lol nothing really. Just thought I shouldve said something like that since the camera actually zooms out when you use the morph ball.

You know why the games go in third person view when using the Morph Ball or the Screw Attack? Because these things don't work in first person view.

It's very probable that the developers experimented for a long time how to transfer Samus Aran's abilities into the third dimension and after careful testing they came to the conclusion that most things work better in first person view, rather than third person view.

I concur with this conjecture.

I also concur.  I personally think it was the best decision.

It's not a first person shooter.  It's a first person adventure with shooting elements.

rol makes a point,it wouldnt have felt the same playing a third person game with a lock on shooting system

If it works for zelda why cant it work with Metroid?

@SmokedHostage
Well they can just change it up a bit for third person. If metroid went third person you shouldnt expect a Prime like experience to begin with.

Exactly...It fits more into the category of FPS then action-adventure.
