It may just be that everything interesting to add at least for myself was mentioned above or like myself again, I'm trying to swallow how you came up with the EU % I've re read it at least a dozen times so far, and I'm calling it quits.
I get the numbers but maybe it's just me... VGC doesn't keep track of which week software hit a certain number after the 10th week... unless it does and I just haven't seen that function, but I'd figure for an accurate measure you'd need to find the difference of software sales between periods being estimated.
However your conclusions sound reasonable to the graphs that were released from the NPD, but I believe those graphs potrayed all three platforms starting at the same time, (setting Xbox360 to 0) But I don't normally apply to this method anyway. so I'll just continue to read...
Actually all the numbers share the same issue, granted you said you used the attach ratio to solve for this, but I remember TheSource stating that with an rapidly increasing install base the attach rate would seem lower... but you addressed that also anyway ... +1 for making most of this obvious. Good stuff.
I'm only confused about NPD attach ratios being applied to EU... I'm wondering now, I'm not 100% certain but I believe VGC applies the attach ratio each week for All 3 platforms under the weekly updates, you could refference that for EU.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:
For example using a sample of say 6 picked weeks based on the frequency of that kind of week and running with an average from there?

I'm not sure I quite understand your questions, but I will try to answer what I think that you are asking:
1. EU? I don't know what you mean.
2. Using the NPD attach rate of 7.5 (for North America). The attach rate is for "sold to consumers". The software numbers I am comparing with Nintendo and Sony are shipped or "sold to retailers".
Therefore, using the 7.5 is reasonable, even if the attach rates in Europe and Japan is lower because:
(a) Sold to retailers is GREATER than sold to consumers
(b) Using the logic from (a), sold to retailers in North America would be greater than 7.5
If the attach ratio is lower in Europe and Japan, 7.5 may be reasonable for sold to retailers
(d) Even if sold to retailers is lower than 7.5 in Europe and Japan, if you average it out, it would probably be close to the 7.5 attach rate for WORLDWIDE sales
I hope that clarifies your questions a little bit.
Let me know if you still have any other questions.

I'm not sure if this question is directed to me.
If it is, I'm not sure what it means.
Can you clarify?
Thanks.
Interesting. So this would be off shipments of the games which I find can be a little more accurate. Interesting. Attach rates definitely higher on PS360 but Wii climbing fast after so little time. Good thread.
Attach rates definitely better for PS360.
However, sheer numbers - Wii.
Yep and I love how you stuck it to people this time on why these threads don't get as much attention. Awesome.
But possibly by sometime in 09 Wii will pass up 360. Holiday 08 is going to see huge Wii software sales for 3rd parties considering the lack of dominant 1st party software aside from Animal Crossing so an open door for 3rd parties with a mainstream buying crowd that will buy games then haha.
Great thread, I recommend that you save it in a text file somewhere so you can shove it in the face of fanboys. Only evidence can make them stop spouting foolishness, although some fanboys are beyond help.

1. Not sure what you mean by sticking it.
2. The 360 has a LTD 3rd Party Lead of about 10 to 20 million. So, definitely, in a 2 to 4 more quarters, the Wii will pass it in total 3rd Party LTD software sales.
3. For monthly or quarterly 3rd Party Software sales, the Wii is very close, if not surpassing the X360 worldwide in 3rd party software sales.
Pretty soon, the XBox (and to a lesser extent) the PS3, will have nothing else to announce (in comparison to the Wii) except for:
a) Attach rates
b) Online members
c) Online/downloaded games (maybe if they have data that they sell more than WiiWare and VC)
d) Individual 1 day or weekend games sales - eg. Halo - $400 million in day 1 sales, or something like that
There is less and less things to "brag" about in comparison to the Wii, again, due to the sheer dominance of Wii console sales.
