PS3 is the only reason Bluray won the war so I'd expect them to give some credit.

Yeah... that's what i'm saying. That's why it wouldn't of been a Betamax, as it would of always beat HD-DVD no matter what happened...  HD-DVD just had too much against it.

Blu-ray would of stuck around at least until HD VOD services reached mainstream as the choice format for Videophiles.

Just how Laserdisc, while it never caught on mainstream was the format used by pretty much all Videophiles until DVD showed up.

What PS3 has done is vasly increase the Blu-ray player installed base and prevented it from being super niche by getting it in the hands of non video-philes. People who just play videogames.

If Blu-ray does end up being the standard format ever i'd basically say the PS3 did most of it all and saved it from becoming a niche product it would of been had it not been in the PS3.

Biggest edge the PS3 has over others Blue-Ray players is online firmware updates..

Especially for a format that is still evolving a little, having your players automatically update is really a nice feature instead of having you do it the hardway by downloading stuff on the net and burning a CD to update the player......



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Those comments annoy me... PorcheGuy, refuses to buy a PS3 because it's a game machine... after reading a non-article about how the PS3 is unfair to the competition...

Sorry but.....what on earth does that mean exactly? Its only fair?

Sony bought bluray to the world as they have with all their failed proprietory stuff in the past to milk and exploit it - not as a service to expand the size of optical disc storage...!

The PS3 doesn't use blurays because they hold more than DVD, its just to make sure bluray didn't fail. (which it would have).
