BLAH!WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!

The one you mentioned are just....good....while FFVII is a pop cultural phenomenon in the same league as Star Trek, Star Wars, Buffy, etc. Its that kind of thing that changes the game for decades. FFXIII is already said to be based on the fact that the SE wants" FFXIII to rival FFVII in vibe and story, they want to out do their own masterpiece!"

Eh????? Let's make a seperate thread about this....

UHG! Why does no one seem to get it. The reason I blame MS and SE becuase it is rightfully so. I do not downplay Sony's part, as if they had marketed the PS3 strongerthey might have gotten way better sales. (I had not seen a PS3 commercial in US till the "Ladies and Gentleman" one). I also do not appreciate them taking out one of their most key features, BC, in order to quelle tha massive winers going "ITS too EXSPENSIVE, WAAAAAAAAH!"(Which is utter bullshit, seeing as the prices of the two systems are fairly similar when u add in all the surcharges on the 360 side). But Sony did their side of the bargain by supplying the strongest system on the market. Yes it is difficult, but when you are striving for perfection shouldnt it be?

And,not saying this to just you, but the Nintendo-Square split is constantly ill used in these forums. With a little reasearch one will find that SS had no choice but to abandon the Nintendo seeing as their newest title(FFVII) was betting on the CD upgrade. Nintendo failed them. It was not becuz of money, but becuz it was what was best for advancing the game to make it better. This is not the case. What I am getting at if a company wants our money they should be striving to give us the best game POSSIBLE! And if you still want to tread the fine line that, "OH NOs! Square is out of money!" check my OP, which once again I think some have neglected to actually read due to its longevity.....

Where's your evidence for this?  Do you really believe the motivation of these companies is to please the hardcore fans, as opposed to making as much money as possible?  If that's the case, they should be releasing the game as a PC exclusive, because it can do far more than the PS3 does.

Nintendo did fail them, but not because of the media format.  Take a look at DQ9, headed for the DS - it tells us two things:
1) Developers will put up with catridges if that's where the money is at.
2) They are not "for advancing their game to make it better."  Otherwise, why wouldn't DQ9 be on the PSP?  They put it on the system with the largest userbase, not the Sony system, or the one with better graphics.

It's simple - the best console to put a game on is the one it will sell the most on.  That's all it is.  The PS1 was not completely superior to the N64, and the PS2 was the weakest system last gen, yet all the FF's still came out on those systems, because that's where the money was.

Even if SE aren't having money problems, they could always use more.  You ask why SO4, Last Remnant, and whatever else is exclusive - I'd guess they were paid by Microsoft for it.  That doesn't change the fact that FF13 will still make more money if it were released to a larger userbase.  If anything, you should be more disappointed at SE having these 360 exclusives rather than FF13 also being ported to another system, because going multiplatform is actually the move that makes sense.

Oh, and FF6 > FF7 btw

I hope M$ open their checkbook again to force Nomura to port FFXIII: versus on Xbox 360.

Me too, if only to see the inevitable forevercloud3000 meltdown thread that follows.

wow, what a fanboy, not to say that I am not one...

And I would not have a meltdown, meltdowns are for retards. I would simply go on a state to state homocidal rampage slaughtering guilty and innoccent alike. No problem there. Then I would simply return to my home and finish playing FFVII, the greatest game EVER!

Anyone wanna come with?

I was with you until you mentioned FF7. If it was 4 or 6 or even 12... maybe.

They really missed on out multiplayer in FF12. They could of worked out a wicked split-screen option.

One... Buffy in the same league as Star Wars and Star Trek?  Seriously?

Two FF7 in the same regard as buffy?

Regardless, that's another thread for another time. I'll just refer you to IGN's top 100 games... and where FF7 rates in comparison to 6,4 and Chrono Trigger.

As for the CD vs cartridge thing. While the official reason... if it was the true reason FF7 would of been multi-plat with Sega Saturn... which was a better and easier to program for system, a port would of been nothing.

Sony made FF7 the focal point of an advertising campaign that costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

That was what made Square take the jump.  It's also what made FF7 so popular.

There is a rumor that Square got a discount on the production cost of the CD-Roms by Sony so that they wouldn't release it on the Saturn...  Which could be true because Shiochiro Irimajiri, the president of Sega, and Tomoyuki Takechi, president of Squaresoft, grew up in the same city and are childhood friends... so everybody expected then it would go to the Saturn.. Sony bribed Squaresoft..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_fantasy_vii#SNES_project_and_early_development

Development began after the production of a short, experimental tech demo called "Final Fantasy SGI" for Silicon Graphics, Inc. Onyx workstations. The demo featured polygon-based 3D renderings of characters from Final Fantasy VI in a real time battle and incorporated interactive elements.[47][48] This experiment led the development team to integrate these design mechanics into Final Fantasy VII. However, as a result of the high quantity of memory storage required to implement the motion data, 3D models, and computer graphics effects involved, only the CD-ROM format would be able to suit the project's needs.[34][47] Nintendo, for which Square had developed all previous titles in the Final Fantasy series, had decided to continue to use cartridges for its upcoming Nintendo 64 console. This eventually led to a dispute that resulted in Square ending its long, often tumultuous, relationship with Nintendo, and Square announced on January 12, 1996 it would be developing Final Fantasy VII for Sony's PlayStation platform.[34][47]

Which is my point... that and the big money thing.  There is even more evidence of a bribe then his halfcocked reasoning that MS bribed for FF13.

Basically he's being intellectually dishonest.

I'm aware of what was said, but again, all that wouldn't have meant shit if N64 took off, and the PS flopped like the Saturn.  That's why I brought up the (inferior) DS taking DQ9 over the PSP, or PS3 even.  They were just itching for an excuse to get away from Nintendo, as was pretty much everyone else - because more money was to be made with Sony.  Besides, if you can believe the reasoning they gave for leaving Nintendo, why not believe the excuse they're making for making FF13 multiplat?  Like - They'll make more money by porting to the X360!  You can't just choose which official reasons you want to believe, and claim the rest are BS.  If one is fishy, they all are

Oh, and I'm a guy, I just happen to have a badass Yotsuba avatar.  Don't even think about burning her
