Forums - Microsoft - Wow, I'm disappointed with the Tales of Vesperia Demo

You shouldn't judge a game just because you dislike the demo.

Demos for RPG's never work, as RPG games are too deep and need getting into to be liked, demos just don't showcase them well. What I would do before buying it, would be gathering peoples' opinions on it.

You do realize that MGS4, RE5, DMC4, GTAIV, Oblivion, Fire Emblem, God of War 2, Madden, Brawl, Soulcalibur, Tekken, Gears of War 2, Disgaea 3, GRID and Twilight Princess didn't/won't evolve much either. Instead they stand out as great examples of something that already exists, not something new. They rely on breadth and quality of content along with graphical and presentational upgrades.

Zen, I appreciate your well thought out posts, as always.  I DO realize these are all a rehash of past games.  I got MGS4 with my 80 Gig PS3 but didn't like the game AT ALL.  I didn't buy or play anything else on your list above with the exception of Twilight and I didn't play it -- my wife did.  I had no interest.  Of all of these Gears II is the only one that holds any interest.  I'm really looking for something new...  The games that I'm interested the most these days are either new IPs that bring something new to the genre, completely original stuff (boom blox, little big planet), or sequels that "evolve"...  I've played so many video games at this point in my life that I don't want to play the "same" game again when I have so little spare time.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

The graphics were incredible, but the annoyance factor on the pre-teen characters was insurmountable. It was like nails on chalkboard.

Bethesda's Todd Howard "if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables."

The only pre teen character in ToV is Karol so that statement is full of fail

The "Tales Of" series is entirely mediocre.

Don't let anyone try and convince you otherwise. These days it gets way more hype than it deserves.

What JRPG series do you think is good? How is Tales mediocre? How does it get more hype than it deserves (because most of it comes from Japan)?

i didnt even know its out,i will try it out and see if i will like it

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

I actually liked the demo. Of course there isn't much change, but how many Jrpgs do change? Most people play Jrpgs for the stories now, because of the lack of change.

I would be very happy to get ToV if it wasn't for the fact that IU comes out only a week after ToV comes out into the US
