Sony is talking about sold to retail, not sold to the consumer.

actually the PS2 should have passed 120m sold this last week.

Even so, at this moment it should be around 132 mil, not 120.

Maybe 140m is some number Sony made up for a projected end of lifetime sales for PS2 or something. All I know is its about 20m short of that number at the moment.

Its already been discussed before that the numnbers are not taking into effect the total sales of the PS2, it excludes many markets where the PS2 has sold a decent amount.

EDIT: Anyways lets stop talking about the PS2.  The wii is an amazing system that shifts an unpresidented amount of units and its a great acheivement.

so what is the official tally of PS2 sales then?

117.89 shipped under their old method, and 15.24 sold to retail under their new method.  Thats what i get at a quick look at the Sony site.
