Curious organisms, those video game controllers. Seems that they're capable of reproducing by both mitosis and meiosis.
Nice find!

NES really marked the way, look at that. Then SNES with shoulder buttons, after that N64 with the analog stick and finally GC with the waverbird.
Nintendo is always ahead in terms of VG controllers, this gen DS with the touch controls and Wii with motion and IR tracking. We can expect motion and touch controls next gen, but Sony already has motion...

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
The lack of change on the left column gives me the shudders ~_~
What you people are talking about the NES? Didn't you see how the NES controller was ripped from G&W?
I think there should be few links more. Mainly for 2-handed 3D-controllers from the Virtual Boy controller. It definately has inspired the dual analog controllers.
And the Jaguar controller... I'm glad i've never held one in my hand. I still remember seeing the controller when Jaguar came out and how repulsive it was.
Ei Kiinasti.
Eikä Japanisti.
Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.
Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.
I've seen this site before -- its great.
One thing not on there are the European Atari 7800 gamepads -- which are pretty much like NES or SMS gamepads, without any game control buttons (start/pause).

The additions give me shudders (Double is better!!!!)
The amount of change in the middle of the chart makes me shudder. ~_~
More importantly, It's also very nice to see prototypes of different controllers.
Look at what the awesome 360 controller could have been!

Or this:

Or the Gamecube.

^ God that's an ugly controller, where is the D-Pad?
or:

Those are some extremely short handles.
or the N64

The Analog stick is a Dinner Plate.
It's a good thing that GC and N64 controllers didn't turn out that way, and if the 360 controller turned out like the pic, I would cry.
There is a severe lack of change on the PS side though. I guess they take a "ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality.
Oh em gee.
Early Playstation controllers.
Fugly.

Why so ugly! Why so many face buttons?

Why are the handles so short?
