Forums - Gaming - What game series should come out only once every videogame generation?

Mario Party, & Madden
WTH?! Why has no one said Madden, yet?

It's because the majority of people that actually buy Madden prefer it come out in yearly increments to match the upcoming football season. Updated rosters are not a reality for every buyer even though the option would be nice. However EA does update the roster constantly all season long, so they aren't oblivious to the issue.

Around the Network

-Smash Bros (though I'd love a DS one )
-Mario Kart
-Mario Party
-Mario Sports (One for each different sport is okay, but no direct sequels)
-Gran Turismo (Not counting Prologues)
-Animal Crossing
-The Sims
-Any and all sports games

I'm not hating on the Nintendo games--far from it--it's just that a sequel on the same console wouldn't be able to do much that's new.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Sonic main series

Chrono Trigger. Not like every year till now.

Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Dragon Quest, anything Shin Megami Tensei, Zelda, Ratchet & Clank.

Mario Kart - same game for the last 3 gens. Improved visuals, and new control scheme (in Wiis case) should only be updated once per gen.

I have been trying not to say anything here for a number of reasons. I mean I could get into a fanboyish debate about how each version is actually different, or how it only comes out once a genration or blah blah blah. That all seems pretty pointless with you as you just wanted to take a swipe at the series and thats cool. What I just realized though is you include Mario Kart: Double Dash in the list of Mario Kart games that never change with that sentence though. Seriously, the only racer I know of to support 2 player co-op in a single car/kart did nothing to change the game?

I think a franchise should only come out once every generation so that the leap between the iterations is more visible and demonstrates more of a progression then we see nowdays.

But due to big business "milk it" seems to be the rule of thumb.

I agree with Mario Party.

Final Fantasy should be only 1 per generation.

That will most likely be the case if you are just talking about the main series

Maybe this generation, but previously the first ones in a generaton were the best, and started slipping. See FF11 and FF12 compared to FF10

FFXI was shunned but FFXII was better.  Even so, FFX will always be the best FF of the 6th gen

Maybe Pokemon .....
